Skin changes since surgery

I used to have what I considered very oily skin on my face before surgery. I know a lot of that was from what I was eating and from the coffee and pop I was drinking. Now I'm not drinking coffee, too much and I haven't had any pop in months and months and ever since my surgery, the skin on my forehead and especially the cheeks is SO DRY I can't stand it. I know I better get it under control now or once winter comes it's going to be really bad!
Why is my skin so dry? Has this happened to anyone else? What kind of lotions is everyone using? I currently use a 15 SPF from MAC which is apparently keeping me from getting sunburned but not moisturizing.

Thanks!

Heidi

I've always been pretty dry. I LOVE Philosophy When Hope is Not Enough Replenishing cream. It's intended for night, but I use it for day. I might have a sample, PM me your address if you want, and I'll send to you.

I have noticed a change in my skin too. My skin much drier then before.

I have always used facial mosturizers and  have now switched to a different kind. I use Avon "Anew" products and I like them very much.

I've always been dry, and echo the comments for Philosophy When Hope is Not Enough-- great stuff, and a little goes a long way!

Ain't hormones grand!!!!  Yep -- lots drier.....i use Oil of Olay Face Wash for sensitive skin to wash my skin and Clinique's "Moisture On Line"  -- hypo allergenic too.  Use this on my heals too!!!

I agree with everyone else that my skin is drier and I am 4+years out.  Beware it is worse in the winter.  I watched a news program last winter and the dermatologist that they had on said that the very best thing for dry skin is simple vasoline.  Showering and putting it on at night works best for me as then you aren't so greasy during the day.  Sounds kinda gross but it really works.  Good luck to you!

I have sensitive skin, so I can't use a lot of the creams and oils.  But I heard about spreading olive oil on during my shower, tried it, and love it.  My skind feels, and (in my mind)looks so much better.  I avoid using it on my face.  Just use a little, minimal, amount of lotion there.  The olive oil doesn't make the tub slippery, or make you smell or get all greasy.

The first few months after surgery it seemed my skin was going through some changes too.  It is probably due to all the changes from the food we are no longer eating to the extra hormones.  I think it started going away around the 3rd or 4th month; and now I have near perfect skin!!

Yep.  Definitely much more dry skin than before!  Lotions work well.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I will have to give them a try! Maybe on my lunch I'll head over to Macy's to see how many samples I can collect.
In the past my skin is usually a bit dry in the winter, but with the way things are headed, if I don't get some good lotion soon, I'm gonna have to put a bag over my head!
