4 weeks out and some WOW moments
Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks since I had surgery. I started the process with my surgeons office in mid May weighing 409 lbs. I had to lose 20 lbs before surgery and actually got down to 383 on surgery day. I weighed 390 when I got home from the hospital, which I know could have been much worse! :) Well, I weighed myself today and weighed 350 lbs. WOW! 59 lbs since I started this journey.
Another WOW moment was when I went back to work. I had worn any of my work clothes while I was off and about died when I put on one of my pairs of pants. They had the expando waist thingy that gave you about an extra 4 inches. Well, before surgery, they were stressed to the max. Now, the elastic is not stretched at all and the are loose and baggy on me. I decided that after about losing my pants a few times that I needed to put these pants to rest! I could not believe it.
Another WOW moment after going back to work was how much more energy I have even after coming off from surgery. My knees really used to give me a hard time as I am on my feet all day and getting up and down. My knees don't hurt anymore!
I have began to wear sizes that I have in my closet that I haven't worn in a few years. Glad that I have this multisized wardrobe! I will be glad to getting rid of these sizes as I can't wear them anymore.
One last WOW moment for now....I can exercise and not feel like I am having a heart attack! THAT didn't happen at 409 pounds. I walked on the treadmill at the Y today for 45 minutes and just felt great afterwards. I want to do the water aerobics again as I really enjoyed that before. I have only one wound left with a scab from where the drain was. It is almost healed. Then I will start.
The pureed foods stage is going really well for me. No problems at all. I go to a meeting tomorrow night dealing with the transistion to solid foods at the end of the month. I have truly been blessed that I have not had any problems since surgery. I have only felt nauseated once and feel it was from the med they sent my home from the hospital with.
I am also blessed to have met so many great, supportive people on here and at coffee meetings. The support that you have given me is invaluable. Have a wonderful day everyone!
