OT: Walk for Autism

As many of you know, my oldest daughter was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder 5 years ago.  Austim is the second most common developmental disorder in the United States affecting one in every 150 children born today.  My family has tried many treatments and therapies through these last five years.  Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist.  Research is crucial.

I am unable to walk this year to support those who fight with me, but I would like as many people as possible to know that they can help, if they would like, by supporting a walker or the event at the link below.  Thanks!

Hey Leia...

Having a child with disabilities as well is so hard on the family and yet so rewarding.  God bless you and the people on this walk.

A friend of mine has a 28-year old son with non-verbal autism. Like you, they've tried sooo many treatments and therapies.
We are in the process of creating 'Support Circles' for this son for when the parents are not around.

I give tremendous credit to parents who have disabled children.  God bless them
