How many of you have experienced some type of addiction transfer since having WLS? I have a "small" shopping thing now, and have a slight fear it may get a little worse after RNY when I can't turn to food any more.

DH look Lauren up to his moms near St Cloud today and so I took advantage of the alone time to shop for some fall/winter clothes for her. After Marshalls & Target, and $300 later....... AHHHHHHH! (ok, some is for next spring /summer and was on clearance, still over 30-some clothing items, a few books and two toys.)

Not me!  Not now, not ever...  Okay--maybe before....

I'm too poor to go on a shopping frenzy--even if the deals were 'give-away' priced!  Not that I wouldn't LOVE to do so!!

Your baby is one lucky little chickadee!

I rationalize with 1. She truely didn't have anything in long sleeves that are in her size and most pants are getting a little short. 2. I haven't bought any clothes for her in MONTHS with the exception of a few outfits for her pictures. 3. At least I'm not buying for ME, which is what I used to do.

I sent DH a picture message, am awaiting the reply . Bet he'll think twice before leaving me home completely ALONE again.

Okay, please take this as intended, only my suggestion.

I used to hate shopping.  Mostly 'cuz of being so ginormous I could only go to a couple of stores to find anything for myself.  But SINCE WLS, it's a lot harder to pass by stores and not buy fabulous clothes JUST 'CUZ I CAN!   I would NOT say I have a transfer addiction to shopping, but it's definitely MORE of a temptation now, as far as clothing for ME is concerned.

I don't think there's anything wrong with looking ahead at your kids' needs and taking advantage of clearance sales and such, but if YOU recognize this already as a potential problem, you may want to talk with a counselor or something about it BEFORE your weight loss becomes a factor - it COULD get worse!

Just a thought and a suggestion...  Like I said, there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of season-ending sales, as long as you don't go overboard.   The key is figuring out what is and what isn't overboard...

Hey Darla- I definately plan to talk to the councelor I' see weekly about emotional eating, about shopping. I've FOR SURE slowed down since having baby, and don't buy nearly the things I used to, plus with working only 3 days a week instead of full time, I just can't go nuts as much. Believe it or not, I did put a few things back on the shelf.

I predict clothing shopping for me will be a possible issue, once I get down to goal weight. I can't imagine buying too much as I shrink, since hopefully I won't be in any size for long before going down again.

I spend WAY too much at Starbucks and Caribou.  However, I have it justified as it does end up giving me enough protein for one meal.  It's what I do for my breakfast.  But still, $4 something for a skinny cinnamon dolce latte?  Crazy!    I kinda hope I stop this soon.  But I have not stopped yet.
I agree with Darla.  It is SO fun to go into shops and know they can't be thinking to themselves.....she is way too big to be shopping in here.....I have to keep remindning myself I'm not too big for regular stores.  It is a blast and I would guess I spend the same amount as before surgery.  I have always loved clothes.
I think having a budget for me and keeping in the confinments of my budget is what I strive for.

Fully confess I call it. If I JUST said I jbought 30 some things for her, people would be like "sure, 30," or at least I would. Proof is in the picture.

To me and take this for what's worth, it just it really boils down to can you afford to spend $300 on clothes for your child.  Only you can know that truly.  There are some out there that could not, but there are others that could.  I am a huge deals shopper and wouldn't bat an eyelash to drop $300 on clothes if I was getting a lot.  It looks like you got a heck of a lot for your money.

I know that on my journey with weight loss, I do not plan to buy any new clothes as I have clothes from 4x to xl.  I will buy clothes when I have exhausted my stash.  Then I will buy clothes that I truly want.  And THEN, watch out!  LOL
