I am at work and we only have a 10 p.m. newscast tonight because of NASCAR...or football... or one of those dude sports. SO, I figured I'd just post a lil' poll... for some entertainment.

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?

2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?

5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?

Go for it...

2019: 11 years out and maintaining a loss of 150lbs.

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?
CAKE... I was a sweetfood, cakes, cookies, pastries.. junkie... don't miss em.. gimme something spicy any day of the wek.

2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?
I'd say I'm pretty lucky... never had one. I'm still 15 lbs from goal so who knows there's time yet I guess

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?
I think at the point when I'd lost 100 lbs. I never thought in a million years I'd be under 200.

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?
Going home to KS where no one had seen me since my surgery and walking up to reletives and having them not know who I was.

5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?

Shopping with my daughters at the name brand stores and knowing that I'm gonna fit into anything I decide to try on

Elena, this is a good one, fun!  Thank you!

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?
All the simple carbs:  especially bread and sweets.
2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?
Four months out, having lost fifty pounds.

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?
Christmas gatherings, five months out.  Wearing amazing clothes, and receiving tons of compliments propelled my motivation forward.

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?
"No way are you 52!  You look and act SO much younger!"
5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?
Enjoying living large in a size six petite body:  Feeling so ALIVE!

Great Idea.... Here are my answers

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?
Ice Cream - in particular, Cold Stone cheesecake ice cream with heath bar and chocolate fudge.   If I do decide to grab a taste, I ask for a sample of the cheesecake ice cream and then I'm done.  Anything more than a small sample makes me sick.  And it isn't as good now as it was before.

2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?
Around 210.  Then in my 170s.  Now I'm plateauing between my 140s and 150s.

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?
Twice - the first is when I dropped below 200 lbs.  The next was when I fit comfortably in a size 10.

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?
The best compliment was that I look HOT.  Nobody has ever said that to me.  EVER!  And that I am sexy.

5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?

My confidence

Good questions......

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?
Anything sweet.  I thought I would miss it, but I don't.  I keep baking for the hubby and have not really wanted to eat the stuff.

2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?  Didn't really have one....just kept losing either weight or inches.

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?  Still haven't -- probably never will.  That's why I stick to the program.  I do know that it "won't work" if I don't stick to the program so that's what I focus on.  That gives me the confidence that "it will keep working" the way it has been.

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?  My hubby telling me how proud he is of my sticking to the program -- and that he would kick the butt of anyone who said this was the easy way out -- he's seen how hard I work.

5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?
Knowing I will be around for a long time to come -- living long enough to enjoy my retirement with my hubby in a few years, seeing Koleby become a man and seeing what he grows up to be, being there for my daughters when they need their mom.  Just life itself is sooooo much happier!!!  And I have a future -- something I didn't have before.

Hi

What great questions!!!

I will be 6 years out next month, so these were great to make me think back and reflect.

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?

I thought I would miss bread and pasta. I have learned new ways to have things without the bread. If I do pasta, it's only a couple bites. Love my almost pastaless lasagna!!!

2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?

I have been lucky and never had a plateau.

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?

I realized this when I hit the minus 60 pound mark and kept going. This was the weight I had lost on Atkins and figured if I could go beyond that, then hey, this is working!!!

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?

I had my surgery October '02. Since it was during winter, I didn't see many of my neighbors thru the winter. In April, the next year, my neighbor would be outside, but would never talk to me. I couldn't figure out why. Then one day, she came up to me and said " Peggy???". She wasn't sure it was me. She told me she thought Ken and I had gotten divorced and I was the new young, pretty, thin wife.  LOL

5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?

Even at almost 6 years out, it is still wonderful being able to be active outdoors.....going for hikes, walks, bike rides, sports etc.

Have a great week!!

Peggy

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?

Pasta and bread, I loved my carbs  but now I don't miss or crave them...

2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?

Well I hit my first big one this past month.  Not sure if it was physical or self sabotage.  I was hovering around the 200 lb mark and because I hadn't been that low in like 20 years I was scared.  I finally got fed up, got back on track and dropped like 8 lbs in 2 weeks.

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?

Daily, it still freaks me out

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?

Being called sexy

5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?

The energy to do things

1. What food did you think you would horribly miss after surgery, but now realize you don't?

Ice cream.  Schwanns vanilla with marshmallow topping or Cold Stone vanilla with brownies.

2. At what weight did you have your first BIG plateau?
After about 6 months I plateaued for a few weeks, then seemed to plateau every month until I hit goal.

3. At what point did you reach the "OMG, this is ACTUALLY going to work" stage?
Still working on feeling that way.  I know I've lost the weight, now the real work begins - maintaining the weight loss!

4. What was the best compliment or comment you've received (WLS-related) so far?
Having people that haven't seen me in a year or more not even recognize me.

5. If you could name one (only ONE) thing that you love about your new post-op life, what would it be?
Being healthy!
