Speed bump
I'm home again- after hitting a speed bump Tuesday and being re-admitted.
Tuesday afternoon started seeing lots of drainage from my incision- soaked through 4x4's and two shirts. Headed off to the ER after talking with the on-call resident. Once there, discovered a small separated area, and they ordered a CT scan to rule out any fluid pockets underneath the incision. First CT comes back indicating there is a liver abscess!
Scared me half to death, and I was admitted. Did another CT scan (this time with contrast) at 2 am. Needless to say, got very little sleep that night!
Wed morning, the docs made rounds, and determined that the liver findings were likely to be harmless cysts, and to focus on the incision. Said I could be discharged. Off they went to the OR, and left me hanging with no orders (no fluids, no food, no med orders) all day, until 3 pm, when they finally got out of OR and wrote orders for me to go home.
Now feeling back to where I was prior to Tuesday-- with the addition of a new antibiotic, and dressing changes.

"A" for attitude, girlfriend - just a speed bump. You are well on your way, just take it easy. I had an incision open up after my first bowel obstruction surgery, it was NOT fun. Mostly because of the major case of the heebie-jeebies it gave me...
Just take time to heal - the weight will come off regardless!!
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Must be the medical ER week! Glad your on the mend. That contrast was some nasty stuff!!
