Another WOW for me and need a recommendation

Good morning everyone!

I woke up early this morning so I decided to dig into the back of my closet to get out my suits since I have my mock interview coming up next week and hopefully some real interviews soon.  My current career requires VERY casual dressing, so all of these suits that I own have never been worn!  I wasn't worried about them though as most of my clothes from pre-surgery still fit (although they are a little baggy), but the career clothes I've been buying were always a little tight as they are more form-fitted than my casual clothes.  I know, you all know where this is going - everything, and I do mean everything that I had for career wear was WAY TOO BIG!!! Like, fall off my body big.

I have to admit, I was really frustrated too.    I have some beautiful clothes and they have been birthday and Christmas gifts from my Mom for the past couple of years but I just haven't had the opportunity to wear them yet.  And, of course, the tags still on the clothes taunt me and obviously I can't return them any more as some of them are a couple of years old - there must be over $500 worth of clothes there!  Argh!!!!

Do any of you think that a seamstress might be able to help make these clothes fit?  If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a seamstress?  From trying them on I think that the clothes don't need to be taken in from the hips lower (they are skirts), but I probably need them taken in anywhere from 4-8 inches in the waist.

If a seamstress won't help, does anyone know anyone pre or post-op that would get some use out of size 40/42 business formal clothes?  I know, that's probably worthless, as not many people here are as big as me now say nothing of what size I was pre-op, but it's better than having nothing to do with brand new clothing that's so nice.

I would think it's definitely worth looking into having them taken in for you!  I forget where you're from , but there are shops in the TC area called Sew What, or you could just look up in the yellow pages under seamstress or tailoring or any number of key words...  YOu might even ask at a local dry-cleaner if they know anyone?

If you bomb on that effort, I would imagine a women's shelter would welcome such a donation!

Congrats on the weight coming off and sorry about the clothes being to big now.
I do use a tailor but she is in Elk River, I don't know where you live.

There is a place in MPLS that helps women get back into the working world and they provide business wear to them. I can't remember the name but I can find out if you would like me to. It would be a donation thou.

Thanks for the recommendations!  I'm going to look into Sew What and see if they can help me out.  I know the places that take career wear donations and I may look into that.  I know I can donate the clothes, but there aren't too many women my size and I want to make sure that I *know* these clothes would get to someone that would use them.  Someone else suggested I try ebay and I may do that as well if I can't get them tailored.
