Need menu ideas, & accountability
Good morning everyone..........
I'm in need of some accountability and menu ideas........I've been struggling the past 2 months and need some new menu idea's.......I've started just this week eating new & different things.....I got tired of the same old same old.........And am trying to get in some form of exercise daily........
I've been stalled at 145-153 for 2 months now......I'm hoping with the surgery I had that it will help as it seemed like I always had my period......15 days a month to be exact. uhhh....So hopefully with that behind me it will be a little easier.........
I also noticed in the past month or so, that when I exercise, I must retain fluid as my shoes fit tighter and my feet & legs look a little swollen? Any idea's there?
I see my Bariatric nurse for my 9th month appt. the end of the month and will ask her questions also........
Any menu recipes would be gratly appreciated.......
Thanks, Kelly

Kelly~ I too have been hunting down some new food ideas and for the first time last week I found a fish I actually like so have added that to my menu! One thing I found from reading through recipes is that just adding some different seasonings can really change things up. For instance I bought some cajun seasoning and a chipotle marinade (I think it only has 2 grams of sugar) to spice up (pun not intended) my chicken and fish. Now that the weather is starting to cool down perhaps you could look at making a stew or thick soup with either beef or chicken, just make sure to add some extra meat so you get enough protien. With regard to your shoes fitting tighter after exercise it is common for feet to swell a little during exercise, however if the swelling is significant you might want to have it checked out as it could be an indicator that something is off. If you would like to be "accountability partners" I would be more than happy since I really need the same thing as well. Let me know and I can PM you my email address. I hope others chime in here as well as I would be interested to see some new menu ideas as well! Love & hugs! Nicole.
Nicole,
I'll check into adding spices, Thanks......
I did make Chilli the other night & added extra hamburger & chilli beans. Yumo......
I forgot all about stew.....yeah that would be good now that the weather is cooling off.......
I can definitly tell I retain fluid from exercise.....My hubby & I have been trying to hike at Sherburne forest, and when we do I weigh 3 or more pounds by the next day....I can feel it too in my feet and lower legs up to my knee's, it's weird......Just got done on my treadmill, and I can tell there is retaining already, went 1.799 miles, and burned 324 calories.
I will ask the nurse about it when I go see her.....It's really starting to bother me.....That's why I took a break from exercise, that uncomfortable feeling of being swollen I didn't like.
I sent you a PM.....
Thanks, Kelly

Hi Kelly! Sounds like you're feeling better, that is such good news. As for recipes have you looked at www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com
There are a couple hundred WLS friendly choices on her site. I have made a few of them and my family really enjoyed them as well!

Morningside Veggie Burgers
They have lots of protein in them. Last night I had the tomato basil and mozzerella patty with a little spaghetti sauce on top. No noodles (I choose not to eat pasta). Tastes like the inside of a pizza roll. And Green beans.
There are the veggie ones, too, which I LOVE! And a mushroom one (its ok). There is also an Asian version of the burgers, too.
Muscle weighs more than fat! Don't forget that! And drink lotsa water.

KA,
I forgot what these were called, Thanks....I'll put it on my grocery list of things to buy.
I started tracking what I eat & drink.......I think I have been getting about 800 calories a day. I think I may try to up it to 1,000 calories a day. Yesterday I ate more and did loose 1 pound, so maybe I haven't been getting enough calories.......
Yep, my water intake has been good..... 68oz.-80 oz. Usually about 4-5 bottles a day.

I don't think 800 calories is enough. When I was at 800 it was like everything shut down and I needed to add more calories to lose. I found that 1000-1200 calories was about where I needed to be
My favorite thing to eat is Taco Dip. I make it with a layer of refried beans, 1# burger and add taco sauce. Spread this on the refried beans. Chop onion and add that to the layer of hamburger with taco sauce. Add a package of shredded cheddar cheese and add slice olives on top. Bake at 350 until bubbly. I love this stuff. Hubby eats it with Multi Grain Tostado chips and I sometimes have a few or I sometimes top a itty bitty potato with it or just eat it plain. It's one of my fav's. Also love Egg face web site. I make the pizza all the time. Olives, bacon, Hamburger whatever I have topped with cheese and olives. In fact I had some for lunch today. I also do BLT's with Romaine lettuce for bread. Egg salad on lettuce leaves is also good. Tuna salad stuffed in a tomato is yummy too. Good luck!
