OT - Movies in the Park District
For you movie buffs, you may already know that several scenes from the Grumpy Old Men movies were filmed at Lake Rebecca (pretty much all the lake/fishing scenes). Back in the late 70's, Ice Castles was filmed at Carver Park Reserve - even tho that was a decade before I came to work for the Park District, I got to MEET Robby Benson during that shoot!
Well, turns out the Coen Brothers are back home in MN, and planning to film some outdoor scenes for their next movie, A Serious Man, at Lake Rebecca! Paying some major ka-CHING to the Park District to have all our waterfront signs taken down during filming, too!
UNFORTUNATELY, this movie doesn't have any of the Coen's favorite actors on tap... they like George Clooney, Billy Bob Thornton, and several other bigger names. (Good Lord, could you IMAGINE if CLOONEY was gonna be out here??? I'd be CAMPED OUT on the beach!!!!!)
Anywho, just a little fun trivia for my friends! If I hear of anything fun that people might get in on (extras, crowd scenes or such - some of our employees have gotten in on those in the past!), I'll be sure to share!!!
