Side effect of weight loss?

Good morning!  As I lose weight it seems to go in steps - I will lose nothing for a long time and then lose a whole bunch and then go back to nothing.  Because the "nothing" periods are too much of a downer, I've put my scale away for a while.  However, I think that I'm losing weight again (or maybe it's just inches - don't know).  In any case, I've dropped sizes in the past week (1-2 sizes depending).

Anyway, this is my question - In the past, when I've been in a period of weight loss I realize that I have to go to the bathroom a LOT more often - is this becuase of the weight loss or is it just in my head?  I'm also wondering if my body just holds on to whatever it can for a few weeks and then gives up and "dumps" it all out of me resulting in the significant weight fluctuations?

Does anyone else experience these times of greater bathroom need?  Are they related to weight loss?  Is there any way to get my weight loss to be  more consistent (especially if I'm retaining water)?

Sorry, a lot of questions but I know those of you with more experience will be able to help!  Thanks!

"I have to go to the bathroom a LOT more often"  Are you talking about having to pee because of all the fluids, or do you mean that you have more bowel movements?  I think that a lot of folks find themselves constipated because of the stomach-rerouting in the RNY.

I have not heard of your situation before. As far as weight-loss goes--
every body is different.

Sorry that I can't help you.

In MY experience, what you've described is completely normal!  It would be nice to have consistant, steady weight loss (in numbers), but your body needs time to adjust and tighten up - that's when you're noticing the clothing get looser & all.  And I DID notice more "production"  in the bathroom during times of greater loss!  Just make sure you are getting your water in consistantly.

If you do experience any constipation, a couple of prunes every day helps a lot!  (Thanks, Sherry V!!!)  I kinda like 'em - GROSS as I thought they were when I was younger, they're a little treat every morning!  'cuz at about 1 year out, I did start to experience a bit of constipation, and it is NOT fun!!
I like the Cherry Essence ones - I think they're by Sunsweet?

All I can say, is my weight loss is EXACTLY the same way. I lose weight drastically... then NOTHING for 2-3 weeks... then 4lbs in a week... then back to NOTHING... it's frustrating, but now that I GET IT, it's not so bad.

2019: 11 years out and maintaining a loss of 150lbs.
