My "Coming Out" Experience Yesterday
You know what? If you DID want to show off your massive weight loss to people, so what? Don't you deserve that? You've worked hard, you are PROUD of your success, and you are HUMAN! I'm not saying you wanted to "show off", but dammit, why NOT enjoy the attention? Why AVOID an event as special as your grandpa's 85th because you might get noticed? That's just pathetic. Shame on your mom.
If she ever says anything that cruel or insensitive again, you should ask her WHY she would say such a hurtful thing! Make her think about taking responsibility for what comes out of her mouth. She may be your mother, but you deserve respect. A LOT of respect, for taking control of your life and your health!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Kelly, in spite of your mom's comment, it sounds like you had a nice visit with the rest of the family. You look fantastic and you've worked hard to get to this healthy point in your life. Be proud and though I know how hard comments from family (especially mom) can be, try to let it roll. After all, it's about you and not them. You did this for you and no one else :) You rock girl!

Kelly,
Sorry your grandpa's birthday was hard to get through, thanks to your mom. I'm sorry she is so focused on herself and that she would have the nerve to say you only attended to "show off." You should be proud of your accomplishments and if it was me, and a big family gathering was happening after I lose my weight, I bet I'll feel confident enough to go , where as today I might not. That's not showing off!
