Milestone for me!

Well, I finally have some happy good news to report today!

Ever so slowly, I've *finally* gone below 400 lbs. today!  The 400s are gone forever and I can't say that I will miss them.  I don't know how long it has been, but it has been at least 4 years since I've weighed under 400 lbs.

The scale and I have been battling.  I have little patience (and thanks to Darla I realize that I need to do a better job of fully relying on God - that He will choose the right time for things to happen for me).  So, as promised, I will now be putting the scale away and weighing myself 1 time a month on the anniversary of my surgery.  In the end, it isn't the number on the scale that I am most concerned about - it is the quality of my life - and there's no doubt that I am now doing things that I haven't done in a long time.

I'm trying to get my husband to dig up some photos of me that have been taken recently.  Then I will post them so that people can see - I still weigh 400 lbs. so I don't look great, but the 65 pounds lost have made a pretty significant difference in my face and back end.    I could think of worse places to lose the weight.

GOOD FOR YOU, GIRLFRIEND!!!

It is SOOOO important early on to NOT focus on the scale!  Focus on the new relationship with food - the scale will follow!

I think the deal with weighing too often is similar to why WE don't see the changes in ourselves as well as others do.  It's too GRADUAL!  To watch the scale move by those fractions of a pound, it's like watching paint dry.  To see yourself in the mirror every day, it's hard to notice the changes.

But if you avoid the scale for greater chunks of time, you'll see POUNDS have disappeared!  And when you look at a before picture next to a current picture, WOWZERS!!!

Just have faith that if you are honest with yourself in doing the right things, you WILL lose the weight!  Your "Yay!!!  I'm under 400!!!"  will be a "I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M UNDER 300!!!" before you know it!!!

Congratulations to you!  What a wonderful feeling.  I was just over 400 at 409 when I started this process so the first milestone took place before I had surgery.  I can't wait to get below 300.  It has been a VERY long time for me since I was under that.

Again, congrats on your success!

Whoo Hoo You! Congratulations!!! I sincerely agree with all the responses, though will add: take monthly measurements. There will be times the scale won't budge, though the measurements will reveal your progress.  Keep moving forward!  Wishing you the best of the best! Hugs, Patti

Thanks for the great encouragement everyone!  I *am* so happy to finally be under 400 - I know that it's not much and that most people start this process WAY before I did - what can I say, I was able to lie to myself for a long time!  Every pound that I lose from here will lead me to a weight that I haven't been in a very long time.  There are only 2 weights in the 300s that I bothered to remember - in 2003 I weighed around 380 - DH and I were trying to have a baby (like that was going to happen at 380) and in 1991 I weighed 301 (was trying to have an MRI and exceeded the weight limit for the machine so had to have a spinal tap).  Since I've put the scale away I am hoping that the 380 will come in the next month or so and that I'll mostly miss it (nothing to really celebrate there).  I will *so* celebrate the 300 mark - weighing less than I did at 19?  That will be heaven.  Anyway, it all will come with time.  For now, I need to just enjoy my life and be thankful for how much easier things get every day - the scale will not be my validation.

Again, thanks for the encouragement.  There are few people that I would admit that I was excited to weigh 399 to.
