One week out...a bit long!!
Hello all,
Just a week ago, I was about to be rolled out of surgery. I can't believe how my first week flew by. I went to my first post op appointment today. Had the drain removed. I was a bit apprehensive about that as I had a drain in an orthopedic injury before that hurt like H E double hockey sticks when they took it out! It was really painless! They said I was doing well and keep up the good work. I feel very liberated with that thing out of my side!
They weighed me when I was there and am down to 376 from 409 starting out a few months ago. 33 lbs down total. 7 since surgery day. I did gain 7 to 390 in the hospital. It is starting to happen!!
Had a little scare over the weekend. I had shared with some folks at coffee about being nauseated on Friday night, but never throwing up. I went to coffee on Saturday and felt pretty decent. When the afternoon progessed the nausea got worse. I took a nap and woke up with a 100.6 temp. I called my surgeon and he just so happened to be on call! He asked me to meet him at the hospital as he was there. I went in and he examined me and said that things looked good. I have become pretty intolerant to anything sweet and the pain med that he originally perscribed was really fruity sweet. He gave me something else. The nausea went on for a while. but when the fever broke, it all went away. I was so relieved!
Had to call Dr Benn again on Sunday when my drain tube had really dark fluid coming through it. He reassured me it was an old blood clot and was normal. I have to tell you, I have had the BEST care from everyone at Fairview Weight Loss and the Fairview Southdale. Both times I called he said he was very glad that I called and to not hesitate to call with concerns.
Sunday was a great day and I am back on track. Mom left today and I am sure she will like to get back home. I will be glad to have some me time here. My Mom is such a great woman and I am lucky to have her in my life.
Hope you are all having a great Monday!

Sounds like things are going pretty smoothly-I'm glad.
It's so nice to hear you talk so sweetly about your mom.
My son is going off to his first year at college (U of M so not far) and has been pulling away all summer. I know it's what he has to do but I hope some day he feels the same about me as you do about your mom.
