Newbie On ObesityHelp
Hello Minnesotans! My name is Kristina and I am currently awaiting to set my surgery date for a Lap Band. I was just approved with my insurance company on August 1st. So now is the long waiting game for a date.
A little about me. I am 31 years old, married almost seven years with four dogs and 1 bird. I live in Cloquet, have almost all of my life. I am a movie and book freak, plus I love to write (hope to write a book and get it published-some day).
Some of my pre-surgery stats are: I am 5' 7 1/2" and 278 pounds. I have been going thru doctor appointments, dietitian appts, therapy appts, psychological evalutions, etc for the last year a half to satisfy my insurance requirement. My workplace actually switched insurance companies in January, so I had even more hoops to jump thru, BUT, I finally made it. I am on the SMDC-Duluth Lap Band surgery list, just way way way down the list according to the surgical nurse I talked to. I am hoping that Dr. Walter Medlin will perform my surgery. I was very comfortable with him during my surgical consult.
I am also not the best with computers, so all will have to bear with me since my OH site is rather dull. I am looking forward to making new friends and learning how to become successful when I become a Bander. Thanks ahead for any information and input-I really enjoy this site!

Hey Kristina! Welcome! I am a LapBander too! This is a great place to hang out and I hope you make it out to one of the coffees -- I know they meet up in Duluth (as well as here in the Twin Cities).

Welcome and CONGRATULATIONS! I would think taht since you've been approved, you won't have to wait TOO horribly long! But just trust that it will happen when it's supposed to, and you will be on your way to a BETTER LIFE!!!

Hi Kristina!! Welcome to the board. I'm from Duluth. I had RNY at SMDC 12/04. We are actually meeting for coffee tomorrow morning at Perkins by the mall 11 am. You are very welcome to come join us. We have a great group and some wonderful support. Hope you can make it to coffee if not tomorrow sometime soon. Do you go to the SMDC support group?
