I'm scared to go to the Fair
Here's what you do. You go to the fair and FIND something that scares you more than food...and then concentrate on totally getting freaked out by that....lets see, what could that be?
I know someone who shall remain nameless...that can't handle the HAUNTED HOUSE. I remember seeing the ugliest dude I've ever seen taking tickets on the giant slide when I was a kid, What about one of those insane rusted out rides in the midway....
The DNR has some nasty looking fish....
The KARE11 studio might put you on the air...
You could give up your cell phone and get lost...
You could lean over a sow pen...
You could follow a horse too closely...
You could pay for the admittance fee for everyone in your group...
You could ride the sky ride and see what happens when you start to rock it...
You could ride on ye old mill with ME!
Pick your own...
C'man

.... afraid of a haunted house.....? Geeze... I have no idea who that might be.... but that person must be a loser...
lol

Good thoughts and suggestions from all!!! Be sure to use them like a handy fair guide, only your's is a little different.
If you want to eat something on a stick, choose wisely (like the porkchop as Darla said), etc. Or bring your own stick and put cubes of cheese on it.
And just to be safe, bring a plastic bag or two with you just in case you need it and are not near a bathroom. If you start wretching, I believe they even have first aid stations where you'll get a little more privacy perhaps.
Don't be scared, just enjoy it as best as you can and remember, there is a LOT of other things to do at the fair rather than just eat.
Have fun.

To all of you going to the Fair - have a great time. After much thought, I am not going to the fair because all I would want to do is eat and that's 1) not healthy for my body 2) a waste of money since my pouch is still so restrictive, 3) my "craved" foods all seem to taste like poo right now anyway and 4) I don't think I could resist Sweet Martha's cookies and I haven't had sugar yet - a VERY bad combination. (want to insert smiley here, but there's too many to choose from)
I AM, however, going to go the Ren Fest in September. There, I really like the retail therapy and the entertainment and although they have food, it doesn't seem as focused as the fair. While there I will be sure to have some roasted corn (my fave) and other than that I don't really care - well, except for those huge chocolate/caramel covered nut thingies - but, let's be realistic - a chocolate/caramel covered nut thingie is not in my immediate future.
Anyway, if anyone goes past the Hazelden booth at the Fair and wants to take (they give it away for free) some literature for me I'd really appreciate it - I use it at my work - many of my clients can't even afford the $2 they charge for their packets on the different topics at their bookstore - so when I go to the Fair I usually scarf some copies to give away throughout the year. They're usually in a building on the north side of the main gate on Snelling - one of the ones where there are vendors selling handcrafted goods (not the one way up on the north side where they sell the "As seen on TV" stuff).
Anyway, ENJOY!
