BCBS MN

OK, since reading Robyn's post, I'm all noided out. I do recall seeing some posts a little while back about Blue Cross, some changes and Fairview SD. Is there a way to search just the MN board or is the only SEARCH option at the top of the page that searches everywhere?

Robyn noted her first appt was 4/15. I went back on my calendar and believe my first appt was 4/30. Haven't talked to them or been told by them anything is an issue. I really don't get why BCBS just added FSH as a "Blue centre of excellaece" or whever they call it back in like March and now they're not going to be affiliated ? I guess I need to get the complete story. Can anyone direct me to the posts about this? Meanwhile I'll go look at the bcbs website. Ugh!

I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to freak you out! I'm sure they haven't told you because there are probably in high hopes that everything will be worked out. They aren't saying much, and the contract is set to end with the clinics on Saturday, and the hospitals on October 28. Let's cross our fingers that they get something worked out!!

They'll get it worked out.  These things happen often in that world...trust me.  I work with it regularly.  If you're concerned the best thing that you can do is talk with both the hospital and the insurance company.  They'll often give you sufficient information.

Robyn, no need to apologize. I'll just ask about what's going on when I see them on Tuesday. I did go to the BCBS website and didn't really get it. I think I more need to understand from FSH where I am exactly in the process to better get a feel for what may or may not happen depending on if the relationship ends.

I work in HR with the benefits and know about this...the Fairview group and BCBS cannot come to terms for their contracts.  BCBS is stating that Fairview won't accept the amount that BCBS allows for the different proceedures (you see that on your bill from the doctor - the amount, the insurance discounted amount, etc...the insurance discounted amount is what I am talking about). Fairview thinks that BCBS is forcing them to lose money because they cut the costs so much.  It doesn't sound promising for them, unfortunately.

When FSH became a "Blue Centre of Excellence" they were in the middle of a contract year, and they got that because BCBS thought that they were doing a good job in whatever they asses them on. That is a completely different area than the contract areas, so I'm sure that they didn't know this was going on when they got that designation - if that even has an effect on getting the designation.

Anyway - sorry for rambling...I hope this helps, and I am hoping and praying that they get your surgery scheduled prior to that October date!

Thanks for the info Laurie. So who's the problem here as far as patients are concerned, Fairview or BCBS. Still don't totally understand, but sounds like Fairview is being greedy, is that what it is? Or is BCBS expecting too little for services that should be worth more.

As of 9:00 this morning BCBS settled with Fairview.  My HR person called to tell me that when she returned from an appointment this morning.  No worries!!

I just got word from our benefits design area that BCBS and Fairview have reached "an accord" as well!  YEAH!

Oh good!!!! Thanks guys for the update, whew. Bet Robyn is having a sigh of relief as well.
