Need some advise here on being light-headed

I have to ask...even though we are supposed to contact our dr office but geez they take 3 days to call back and you can never speak directly to the nurse when you call in. Here is my question: What am I needing today? I am very light-headed and not feeling so good. I admit to going more than 14 hours without food (ate at 6pm last night and not again until 8:30 this morning). I ate a bowl of cereal with milk and banana and have now just finished off 1/4 cup soy nuts. I am on my 3rd 12 oz of fluids (one coffee containing 20 grams of protein powder and 2 crystal light drinks (1/2 packet of crystal light for each). Do I just take it easy until the nutrients have a chance to work into my system? Do I need to try to down more fluids? I hate to take in more food right now but if that is what my body needs I can go get a cheese stick. Unfortunately I am at work so lying down is not an option.

You may need Electrolytes...Can you get something with something with magnesium/potassium?  Is there anyone that can check your blood pressure?  There is no way we can help you cyberly....if it's serious, DON'T DRIVE, have someone drive you to an URGENT CARE or somewhere where they can take a look at you.  Is this a new thing?

I used to have this problem shortly after the surgery, it was lower blood pressure so they took me off the BP medication. The last time it happened I had been out in the sun and was taken by ambulance to ER because I did pass out...diagnosed with heat exhaustion. I have not been outside at all today so doubt that is the issue. You may be right about the blood pressure. I can go get that checked now. If it is low, then I know it is a fluids issue. Thank you for helping me to think about this more clearly.

It also sounds like you're a bit behind on dense protein... I know I can get the jitters when I'm behind on feeding myself.

Yah... whoda ever thunk I'd forget to feed myself?  It's a strange, new world we're livin' in...

Let me know if I need to run some string cheese or milk up to your desk!!  It helps me when I get light headed.  My co-workers have done a cheese and milk run for me a couple times!

I just checked the BP and it is 85/55 which I think is kind of low. I will keep pumping the fluids. I may be going thru Caribou withdrawls. Thank you Edi for calling to check up on me. I will grab some milk and see if that helps instead of jus****er. But I am feeling a bit better now...so I will make it thru the day.

I just had a similar episode about a week ago.  I had the shakes pretty bad for a day, but having the shakes is not abnormal for me for many known reasons, but then I got to where I kept getting so weak I could hardly stand up, I would literally colapse back to where I where, and have to sit and force myself to breath slowly and gather my strength to try again.  Sat and thought about it and realized that I had been really, really off with my eating the previous few days, and had probably only eaten 300 cals or so the day before.  It took me a couple days to recover, I just kept eeating, for a day and a half.  I ate a lot, and often.  Every time I ate, I felt a little better.  And a good nights sleep helped, too.  My tool sure is working.  Can't neglect myself.
