SWAPKINS: Sat Oct 18

Now that I got my head on straight and figured out what month October was... I figured the 18th would work well.

So lets plan on that... I will post about it closer to the date and hopefully a few people can volunteer to give me a hand as this is my first time doing a Swapkins.

I will rent out the party room -- has lots of space -- so it should be good to go.

If you have any suggestions from previous Swapkins, PM me.

Sounds good, although I am not sure if I will be able to make it as I am doing the marathon with my sister the next day down in Des Moines, but either way hopefully I can send some smaller sizes with someone else!  Thanks for taking on this job!

I haven't done a swapkins before, so am rather ignorant about it. Are there specific things NOT to bring, certain sizes (large or small?), etc? Depending on location and what I can find in my basement, I'd love to participate.

Traci, SWAPKINS is just an excellent opportunity for people to clean out their closets and drawers of sizes they've shrunk out of, and to pick up things in the smaller sizes they need!  Any sizes are welcome, we have people from size teenie to size 5X - pre and post op, it's all good!  There is no money exchanged for the clothing, but usually a donation ($5?) offered to the person who sets it up as there is usually a cost to rent the facility.  Anything that is not taken is usually either donated to a shelter or taken to Goodwill.

We've seen everything from shoes and boots to swimsuits and winter coats, and everything in between.  People aren't usually interested in undergarments unless they've never been worn.  Just remember, if you wouldn't take it for any reason (stains, wear, damage), then don't bring it.

I hope that helps!

I won't be able to make it. Boo!!! I work that weekend. I checked my calendar to see about switching shifts. It's not going to work because it would have me working 7 days in a row. Ouch.. no way in heck. I hope you have a lot of fun. Maybe, if ya'll are still going at it, I could stop by before work that night. That will be my LAST weekend working night shift. Yippee!!!
