Biotin

Ok, so also at my appt today we discussed what I was taking and I told the PA that I was trying to get in a biotin supplement.  She looked at me like I was weird and asked me what that was.  I said a b vitamin that helps with hair.  She said don't take it, you won't absorb it anyway.  She said that hairloss is temporary and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

I started taking it after reading so many posts on it.  Does this sound right to everyone?  Just wondering.

I was on biotin for a few months. My nutritional technologist found some capsule types that are better absorbed than tablet types.

I personally found  out that many of my problems were
caused by not getting enough protein. Until fairly recently, I did not have a protein drink I could hack.  The stuff I found here is 30 mgs protein, plus whatever milk offers. I add lots of frozen fruit to it and have a great-tasting smoothie.

I guess everybody has their own solution to various problems.
Good luck!

Hi...I have never used Biotin but know others that have.I think it is a personal choice.
My nutritionist and my hairdresser said Biotin wouldn't make any big difference. I lost hair for about two months. Now it is all growing back in again.

Good luck in what ever you decide to do.

I never touched biotin, and I've hardly lost any hair.  I've heard mixed reviews on the stuff.  I tend to think that it's not going to help if you are following your plan, getting in all your nutrients and taking your supplements religiously. but that is my own opinion, and if you think it will help you, then by all means, do it.  It won't hurt.

I'm taking Biotin also because of what I've read and heard from some people....it's not doing anything for me.  My nails aren't getting any stronger and my hair is thin as usual.  My hair didn't fall out after surgery, but I did notice some shedding due to my thyroid problem.  But I'll keep taking it until I run out, then I won't buy anymore.

I've been taking Biotin for years (capsule form).  I was diagnosed with a hypoactive thyroid and my hair started to get very thin - worse than that, I lost most of my eyelashes!

Is it helping my hair?  Well, I don't know for sure, but I don't want to STOP taking it and find out it WAS!  I'll tell you this, tho - I have noticed a very definite issue with my eyelashes.  They do okay with it - still thin, but okay until I miss a few days.  Then they fall out like needles on a dry Christmas tree!  And I'm too flippin' vain to be able to handle that well!  So I take it.  And I use Nioxin shampoo, which actually does a fabulous job of keeping my face clean & nice, too!

But all that having been said, I agree - MOST important is getting all your protein and supplements in!
