BC Question

Hey, I'm sure this has been discussed all over the place, but I haven't been able to find much, so I was wondering about you guys.

What kinds of birth control methods do you use? I have been on Depo Provera before and don't want to go back to it, and worry about pills (mostly because I haven't been OKd to take pills, and the whole malabsorptive aspect of surgery), and the patch not being as effective over 198 lbs.

I've been toying with the idea of Nuva ring or Femcon FE (Chewable BC pills) but yeah. What do you use?

A vasectomy worked great for us!

Please spay and neuter your pets!

LOL I should mention that I'm a 21-year-old planning on having kids within the next couple years!

Don't think the boyfriend would be too keen on THAT one...

I tried the Nuva Ring and it was huge---it's like a jelly bracelet!!  I even had my husband try to put it in for me!  It kept falling out, so that didn't work so well for me.  I haven't heard about the chewable BC pills, that sounds like a good idea.  Good luck to you!

HANDS DOWN - the Mirena IUD!
If you have specific questions about it, PM me. I don't want to subject the poor men on this board of the specifics.

I take the pill.... they said it's not as effective after surgery but eventually it will be. Just have to monitor with weightloss...

I've been using the Nuvaring for three years and love it. I've had no problems with it at all.

Mirena IUD!  Very low level progesterone, thus no side effects, it's effective five years, and produces exceptionally light periods.  Recommended by my gynocologist after serious female issues, and now sixteen months later, have been immensely grateful!  (Yikes, twenty years ago I'd had two Depo shots, though horrid side effects:  felt like PMSing every day, gained a ton of weight---my WLS clinic frowned upon it exactly due to the sabotage weight gain post-surgery.)   Best of the best to you as you decide. Hugs, Patti
