Need a swift kick in the butt

Someone needs to give me a swift kick in the butt and shake me to my senses.  I'm about six and a half months out and have done very well, down 80 lbs in total but lately I've gotten of track and can't seem to pull it together.   I have not been following my eating plan, starting to graze, slacking on my water and exercise, just not being a good girl.  Part of me thinks that the fact that I am so close to being out of the 200's that I am self sabotaging myself cause I haven't been in the 100's in years and part of me is uncomfortable with people's comments on my weight  loss, but then again it could be a million things.  I start off every morning on the right track but by mid morning I've strayed.  I need some words of wisdom on how to snap out of this phase, it has been going on for about 2 weeks.

Keep your eye on the prize and don't give up!!

Remember why you had this surgery and how far you have come.
Look at before and after pics. Hang them around the house.
Go through your closets and get rid of larger size clothes.
Drink water, water, water and more water.
Eat SF popscicles.

If you are that hungry you are not getting in enough protein. Remember protein first...always!! Dense protein stays with you longer. Eat your protein don't always drink it. You will stay full longer.

Get out of the house and stay busy!!
Get on this board as often as you need to.
DO NOT give in to head hunger!!

Good Luck...hugs.....connie d

Hey Alana, guess what? I'm pre-op and I'm having the same problem. I bet you used to go through that when you'd diet before, too, eh? I don't think we're all that different. You just have a smaller tummy pouch.

Re-reading the Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book and in here I like this passage best. "When you look good and feel good, having the motivation to work hard at losing those last few pounds may be difficult."

Now for you, it might be the last few pounds to Onederland because like you said, you have't been there in years. Makes complete sense really. You're leaving your comfort zone of sorts. You want to break through that thin wall that separates 199 from 200 but you're a little unsure of how it's going to be.

And you know that the head hunger and food demons are with us for life. We have to wrap our brains around that I think and understand it for what it is. You can overcome anything you choose to. Make a decision and maybe the first step is journaling your daily eating so you can really get a good understanding of where you are. Then add to the journaling about how you're feeling before you eat. Maybe you'll see a pattern and will know where to go from there.

Or reach out for an accountability partner. A few of us have done that with simple things like daily water intake and it does help to keep it at the forefront of your mind.

Best of luck and you can do this, just make the decision and work at it every day - you will be successful!

I just want to chime in that both Connie and Amy make such awesome sense with their advice!!

It doesn't matter at what stage of the journey you're in--these gals gave EXCELLENT SOLID advice.  Our stomachs got altered--not our brains, unfortunately!  Most of us will have royal battles with ourselves over head hunger and other nasty games we play.

I am printing off both Connie's and Amy's postings, to put in a spot where I'll be able to see them.

THANKS, gals!

Alana, I wholeheartedly agree with every previous reply.  I'd suggest the 5DPT--I did that when I was in the same boat (titanic and it really, really gets you back on  track!  The first two days of liquids sucks out loud, but add poultry seasoning to chicken broth, some s/f pudding, and lots of Crystal light.  It's ONLY five days, and keep you eye on the purpose!  www.5dPT.com  Best of the bestest wishes!  Oceans of love and hugs galore, Patti

Oh, what you're describing is SO me! I do really well, and then at some point, I lose it and start "being bac." I hope you get out of your slump, you've done SO well so far. You should be proud!

Patti- I clicked on the link curious what it was, and it didn't work , so of course I had to pursue via google, and am wondering if it's http://www.5htp.com/ ? Is that what the link was supposed to be? What do you think it did for you? I'm always up for trying something new.

I was recently in the same boat. I had gotten off track around the 6 month mark and bad habits were creeping in and the scale started going in the wrong direction!!! Check out my most recent blog and it will tell you what I discovered the problem to be with the help of my shrink at my clinic and the dr and nut there also.
