Liquid Diet
Did/is anyone on the opti-fast liquid diet 2 weeks pre op?
If you are or have been..How did you feel?
I am on day 3 of it. I get the drinks down ok. In the eve at dinner time I have some raw veggies and SF jello cup and Chicken broth.
By eve time the problem I am having is the weak feeling and just want to lay around and veg.
Is this norm? I am not shakey, just feel weak. I also drink about 50 oz of water a day too.
Do I need to increase veggies throughout the day? They just said I could have them, not how many or how much.
Ok, I am rambling here, will wait and see if there is any good answers.
Thanks
Kelly/tink

Kelly, What you are feeling is very normal and it's part of the fat-burning process. You will adjust to it very soon. The first 2-3 days are the most difficult. I was not allowed to eat veggies while on the LD so I can't tell you if increasing your veggie intake will hel*****t...what I can tell you is that it sounds like your water consumption is too low especially in this heat. Try to drink more water - it will help. BUT, to be honest, you will need to be more gentle with yourself. Laying around and vegging will be fairly normal for the time being. Just try to get in some light exercise since it will help you with your weight loss and your post-op recovery.
Hang in there, the next 11 days will seem to take forever but when you look back it won't seem that bad.

Thanks for the information. The heat has been pretty bad I guess. I don't go outside except to let the dog out( I stay in where the centeral air is LOL). I think I actually figured out what else is going on. Some days it just takes a bit to click in to the old mind. I think Im having more vertigo problems so I have started my meds for that this morning and will see if it helps. It is odd cuz even tho I feel weak and only eat what I said.. I am not hungry or hunger pains. Shrugs.
Have a wonderful day

We (WLSers in Thunder Bay) were instructed to use Carnation Instant Breakfast (no-sugar--the blue box) and could have LIQUIDS--like strained soups, herbal teas, etc., but also could enjoy SF popcicles and the like. If you're feeling faint, I would suggest contacting your GP and finding out if you are getting enough protein.
Maybe the Opti-fast doesn't have enough protein??
(Anyway--I find when I'm not getting enough protein, I get light-headed.)
Regardless--Good luck!! Keep your eyes on the prize at the end of this--a new you!

Hi Kelly....
I agree you may need more protein and more water. You can add Crystal Light to your water and make it taste better. Also SF popscicles were a hit with me. I however, ate the Edys SF Fruit Bars instead....YUMO!!
When I was on the LD we were only allowed Boost High Protein Drink. It really filled me up. I also had Chicken broth in the evenings and that really satified me too.
If the shakiness and weakness continues call your doctor.
Good luck...hugs....connie d
