Let's all say a prayer remembering those who died, or were injured, or who knew someone who was affected, on the 35W collapse one year ago today.  There is a moment of silence at 6:05 tonight -- everyone should just stop whatever they are doing and remember!!!

Remember it could have been you or a loved one.  You never know when the Lord will call you to him.....So live each day to the fullest, be kind to those around you, and share your feelings of love every day.  Count your blessings, not the things dragging you down.  See the glass half full, not half empty.

Peace  and love to all of you!!!

A manager in our office is the cousin of Sherry Engebretsen's husband.  Was very sad for our office.  And I know that a few people on the board knew her too.

My brother-in-law is on his third tour in Iraq.  I pray for our troups every day.  And everytime we email with him, he always says to remind people that we DO need to be there right now, lots of things HAVE changed dramatically, and that since 9-11, everyone over there is a volunteer (they have enlisted since 9-11 and they ALL knew where they were going.)

He too left for a third time his wife and now 5 year old son.  It is very difficult for the families -- they sacrafice so much too!!!  She will need lots of help being a single parent with a husband in a war zone.

Be sure to send care packages of stuff to them, or donate to an organization that does.  They really appreciate toothpaste, mouth wash, toilet paper, chapstick, lotions, soap, drink mixes and snacks!!!  Stuff we reach for all the time.......My mother-in-law sends care packages to Brian with homemade cookies (which are usually in pieces when then get there) and they absolutely love them -- even the pieces!!!

www.anysoldier.com  is a place where you can donate.  The names listed are a troup person who lists the needs of people their troup group.  It gets sent to that contact, and they distribute to the person (who usually will not ask for the items).  This includes mail !!!!  Lots of them are over there will little contact with the outside watching those who have a ton of supporters.  This is to balance things out.

Hugs to all those who help!!!  They really are soooooo appreciative.....

I was in Europe during that time..... in Latvia with my two friends and my dad.... and my dad found out about it in the middle of the night -- it was on the news in LATVIA.... huge deal!! It was so sad to be so far away and know that people are suffering back home.

Here's a prayer for all those that helped save lives and helped the crisis situation.

It was a huge tragedy, just shocking.  I will definitely be observing a moment of silence this evening, and send my prayers up to all who were more directly affected by it.

A few days after the collapse last year, I took my Girl Scout troop to Santa Monica for a week.  (Or rather, they earned it).  When people out there found out we were from Minnesota, it was all they could talk about!  Did we know anyone that was on the bridge?  Do we drive over that bridge?  Have we seen the rubble?  It was a really big deal EVERYWHERE - because apparently, it could happen ANYWHERE.  So here's to praying it doesn't, ever again.

Barb,

Thanks for posting this reminder to all and I too remember where I was..... we had picked up our exchange student Tobias from the airport earlier in the day  who was from Germany.  And we had just gotten to Duluth when my friend had called to find out where we were?  She was frantic and upset at that time we hadn't heard about the bridge.   Tobias's family had called my friend to find out where he was because they had heard about the bridge and they were scared because they knew he flown in to Minneapolis and they hadn't heard from him yet.
I also found out a short time later that my brother had just gone over the bridge a couple of minutes prior to its fall.   I thanked God he was safe and cried for those who hadn't been so fortunate.  Sending prayers and thougts to all of those people that were affected by this tragedy.

God Bless,

Erika

Yep, I did so  watching several local news recaps last night.  Both my brothers used that bridge daily, so was relieved to know that one had crossed that bridge a couple hours prior to the tragedy.  "So live each day to the fullest, be kind to those around you, and share your feelings of love every day."  You got it!  Enjoy your weekend Barb!  Hugs and love, Patti
