Hey folks,
It's been a long time since I've been around. Busy with work and trying to enjoy the summer before school starts again in THREE FRICKIN WEEKS!!!!!!

Any way, here is my dilema, Last Tuesday afternoon I started feeling funny, heart palpitations and wound up going to ER. BP was 180/113 and pulse was all screwed up. PVC's and rapid then slow. Spent Tuesday night in ICU for observation and released on Wed with script for BP meds. On Friday I went to visit my PCP Dr and she put me on more BP meds and said I was still having irregular pulse. I didnt start the new meds cause I was out of town for the weekend.

On Sunday I got up and ate, went big job and noticed stool was dark, had another stoll about 2 hours later and man what a mess, called ER in Fargo and they said get in right away. Admitted on Sunday with blood in stool and some sort of gastr-intestinal bleeding.

Monday am had tube put down throat and all is well with pouch, nothing bleeding there. Asked if they were able to get into my old stomach to look around and they said no I would need surgery for that.

I am scheduled fro colonoscopy on Monday morning. Still having black bloody stools. I did contact my RNY surgeon and have appt with him on Wed next week.

I have no symptoms, not sick and feel fine. Does anyone had to deal with this and what should I be looking for. The Dr.s in Fargo seem confused and guessing and I wount see my RNY Dr. till Wednesday. I am worried and nervous. Any insight on this would be great.

Thanks

Brian

This could be a bleeding ulcer in your native stomach. My brother just had a similar issue. He had RNY in November 2004. Bloody stools for close to a week before he dealt with it and went to the ER. He waited so long he needed a blood transfusion.

Well after being scoped from above and below and getting the all clear, they put him on Protonix to stop acid production. While he waited for completion of tests the internal bleeding stopped. So they will recheck him in a few months, but this seems to be doing the trick.

Good luck. I would always call my surgeon when there is a bleeding or obstruction possibility due to the rerouting and I guess I feel that they would know best how to proceed.
