OT Pictures from the Dells

Back in early June, the Dells received over 15" of rain in one 24 hour period.  Lake Delton is a man-made lake.  The water was more than the "levy" could hold - it crumbled, then totally breached.  A highway was washed down the Wisconsin River, as were 4 homes. The Duck boat pilots and Jet boat captains were called in at 4am when it was apparent that the whole thing was gonna go - they helped people, picked up debris, sounded like a major effort - COOL AS HECK to have the Duck boats available for that!

(The ducks, for anyone that doesn't know, can drive on land straight into the water.  They were built in the 40's and used in WWII for the invasion of Normandy.  History lesson incomplete.)

So anyway, Lake Delton is now dry, and there's apparently some serious controversy over who has jurisdiction over how to handle the disaster, how to rebuild, WHAT to rebuild, yada yada yada...

I wondered if that was what happened.  Poor Tommy Bartlett (NOT)...of course it is too bad for the visitors, because the water show was always a BLAST to watch!
