Walk The Dog

We are always looking for walking partners and so are they.  Take some time to go to your local Humane Society and volunteer to walk the dogs.  They need human contact and freedom from the cage.  Most are there through no fault of their own, these days most are there due to financial reasons and/or their families losing their homes to foreclosure.  We need the exercise and they need it too as well as the attention and freedom.  Give the furry guys a break from the cage!

I used to volunteer at the Golden Valley Humane Society... it was a great place to be. The cutest animals ever!! And gladly.. people take them into their homes eventualy :-) I should head back and put in some time...

I go down to Animal Ark and man handle some pups !    I love walking them and gettin all spitty!

Gwen, thank you for posting this. Honestly, I had no clue this was even an option. I think this is a great option for my family - the kids want a dog and I would love one, too, but I am allergic to cats & dogs, so it's out of the question for us. But this, this is a great alternative to having our own!!!

Roger and I have both walked dogs at the local shelters - it's great exercise and the dogs just love it...  and don't forget the cats!!!  They need luv'in too!  I know at our local shelter you can sign out a dog and take it to the dog park to run.  It's such a wonderful thing!!

Also please consider taking a holiday shift if you don't have anything going on... or take the party with you (call ahead and ok it though!)!  The workers at the shelter will love you to pieces!
