THANK YOU HON!! As I talked with my therapist and my analogy to her was that I am an onion peeling away the layers. Some layers bring you tears, some you get thru and some you have to walk away for a bit before going back. That's where I am, about to go back to finish peeling away the hurt. What a process, but much needed for me!

Wow, I feel that I could have written the words right out of your mouth. (Does that make since?) I have been feeling similar things too, finding the person that has been caged up inside for so long is kinda scarey, not sure if I would like this person or if others would like her???
I have been thinking about getting back into therepy too and by reading this post, you have convinced me that I just can not continue with out getting some help....

I loved the analogy of the butterfly coming out of the cocoon and drying its leaves....I thought of the picture of you at Gooseberry Falls!!!!

We don't know one another, but I was quite touched by your post and wanted to thank you for sharing a bit of both your pain and your hope. I am still a newbie (one month out) and I have come to realize that the emotional part of this journey will be even more challenging than the physical part. So many of the people on OH are those who put the interests and demands of others (including their parents' interests and demands) ahead of their own needs. Yep, that would be me. I have noticed that many people on the MN message board find you to be inspiring because you have succeeded smack dab in the face of the emotional challenges you have faced and continue to face. I guess this is my long-winded way of saying that you inspire me, too, and I truly appreciate your willingness to share.

Thank you SO MUCH!!! The demands (not from peeps here) are the toughest part for me...... I use to just do them, good or bad for me and learning to stand up, well, my legs are wobbly but here I go!

I highly reccommend therapy.....life saving for me and I'm sure others.

You have just re-afffirmed my decision to continue to see the psychologist who did my pre-surgery evaluation until I am at least a year out. I saw her just last week and it was so worth it!

A funny story about accommodating everyone....my son told me that his girlfriend once had a dream that people started calling me "Big Love Daddy" because I would pretty much do anything for anyone who asked.

Anyhow, good luck with your ongoing journey.
