Surgeon approved surgery

Went to the Doctor yesterday, seen my surgeon for the first time.  Everything is a go with him. So now it is the wait and see game from my insurance.  He said I meet all the criteria to have this surgery.  Because of my age (59) he recommend I stick with the RNY versus the lap band.  Also, I do know that my insurance wants a second opinion.  I am having the procdure done (if approved) at Mayo Clinic so now I may have to go elsewhere for their opinion. Hey, just take a look at me, that should be enough without looking at my medical records.  Oh well, I can play their game too, it's just that it is more of a waiting game then.

Thanks Marsha -   I hope it goes quickly too.  They said once they hear from the insurance company- a nurse/secretary will call me and give me some date to choose from.   I am nervous but anxious.  Hugs to you

Kris-It is starting to be a reality.  I will know more once the insurance decides.  After that, it will be more tests, and I hope more info on what I can and can't eat.  I may be needing some ideas from this board.   Jan

That is awesome that you are one step closer... I remember how hard the waiting game was, but the good news is that - as frustrating as it is - it does go quickly and (in my case anyway) gave me plenty of time to research and learn and truely "understand" what I was getting myself into.  In hind-sight, I wouldn't have had it any other way!

Best of luck to you!!

Thank you M~   I hope it does go quickly.  It is in the hands of the insurance company.  Glad to know there are so many of you out there with some answers when I have questions.  I try and read and jot things down, but I know I will have questions to ask.
