My surgery is a week from today and Im on my liquid diet... Ive been drinking about 2 Boost and 2 Slimfasts a day, along with water/crystal light, but im really getting hungry. I just want a steak!!! I did really well for the last 2 days but I have been getting major throbbing headaches that I can feel even when im sleeping. Anyone got some tips to help me out?? I ate one single frito cause the bag was taunting me.( I didnt have any carrots or anything good) Now I feel really guilty and threw them all down the garbage disposal :) Take that Frito-Lay!!

The first three days are the worst.  But you have to stick to the liquid diet (i.e., carrots aren't in the book).

SF popcycles; drink more boosts and slim fasts; I loved Mrs. Grass soup with the golden egg -- make the soup as normal and then strain out the noodles and drink the broth; jello; milk; LOTS of water.

Just remember that you would hate for Dr. Chuck to get in there and find your liver hasn't shrunk enough (because you ate solid food) and can't do the surgery.  The liquid diet is to leave room around your insides (particularly your liver) so they don't have to open you up, risk knicking other organs, etc.  It also helps you heal alot faster.

We've all suffered through it and you can do it too  -- keep your eye on the prize!!!

I liked freezing the slimfast.  That was kinda like ice cream for me.  Use a can opener and spoon it out of there.  I also put it in the microwave for 10 seconds.   I had 6 slifast/CIB a day.   Look at it like you have all this extra time to do other things because you don't have to think about what you will eat.  You just know all you will have is your drink, Mrs. Grass soup/with the egg, yumo!!!!!!

Stick with it!  It is really hard, but you will get through it and it is worth it in the end.  Cheating - especially with dense protein would likely be "caught" by your surgery team this close to your surgery date.

Keep active, avoid food at all costs, and do SF popsicles if you can - chew them - they provide some chewing sensation.  Also, if salt is causing the problem, eat a little salt - it won't kill you and for me it took away the cravings for the salty snacks.

You'll get through this and in a few weeks you will remember it was hard, but you'll be so glad you made it.

Stick with it.  The first three or four days are the most difficult.  Barb K and Lisa Joy and others gave you some very good ideas.  Keep your eyes on the prize!!!  Keep trucking along!!!  WHen you feel the urge to eat or snack get up and go for a walk or read a book.  Anything but doin't put anything solid in your body at this point in the game!!

Keep going!  You're almost there!!!
