More OT Fun!
I would hire a lawyer to kick my ex out of the house and sell it to get that mortgage outta my name, then pay off all of my debt, payoff my family's debt, put money aside for school, get a new car, go on a vacation to Australia/New Zealand, and then to Alaska, buy a cabin on a lake up near the North Shore, give some money to the local NAMI (INational Alliance for the Mentally Ill) groups to be able to offer scholarships so to speak for people unable to afford treatment either daytreatment or residential treatment. I think that would take up most if not all of it.
I'd do the usual...pay off my house, buy a house on a lake or river, get a boat, travel, etc. Oh yeah, I would hire a cook/nutritional consultant to help me eat healthier (even though I eat less) and a personal trainer to help me get a great exercise routine going.
I'd also find a group of homes in an ailing suburb and buy them out of foreclosure. With those houses I would develop a community of homes for people recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. Housing for singles and for families. I would have some of the property house programs for continuing treatment and support groups and I would have vans that could transport the family members to jobs and/or school. I would work with local businesses to convince them of the advantages of hiring people that are in recovery.
I'd also buy up a house or two near local universities and hire counselors and tutors so that young people in recovery could go to college in a safer environment and not have to worry about being around alcohol and drug use so much on the regular campus (this would be less important than the above because there are already a few people who help college kids).
Great question Darla. It's always nice to see what wonderful things people would do if they won. How come we so rarely hear about these types of things from the winners?

What a way to dream lol
Generally yhe interest on about 850K will be about $50k a year if I remember right... it was about 2 years ago anyhow... so investing a million should get you about $60K a year...
1) set up a couple of million in trust to live on the interest from
2) college funds for the grandkids
3) bills
4) set up a full kennel at the house here
5) set up a free/very low cost spay/neuter program to help with pet population
6) maybe retire or only work part time and devote myself to the animals... rescue dogs and help others who work so hard to keep our furry friends alive.

WOO HOO!! $33 Mil...!!!
First, I'd pay my 10% tithe to the church. That would pay off ALL the debts for it and we could focus on outreach to the homeless and orphans!
Second, I'd pay off my house, have it remodled to restore it 100% including Lucy's dream bedroom!
I'd pay off ALL of both she and my debts.
We'd go on a trip to Hawaii.
Put the money up for Torey and Allison's education.
Put the rest in savings and live off the intrest so Lucy can retire and travel with me.
I WOULD TREAT ALL MY FRIENDS TO COFFEE!!! HEHEHEHE
