Okay people the Powerball Jackpot is currently at $33 million.  So the question is....

What would you do if you won it???  List anything and everything!  Selfish, generous, ridiculous, practical.... What would you do with that kind of ka-CHING at your disposal???

I know I'm pretty practical.  I would pay off my house and my student loans.  Then, I'd invest enough to pay for my kids college tuition.  I'd also make sure my parents and grandma were taken care of. Selfishly ... I'd like to be able to hire someone to clean my house, to make meals, and to organize my garage!  Mary

Darla - This is MY kind of question! Here goes:

I would pay off the homes of my sister, mother and step-children. All the kids would get a million up front...then we'd work out something else so they didn't blow it all!

Pay off the bills and house...give the house to a less fortunate family and buy myself a new one!

Then I would travel the world....for about a year. I just want to see EVERYTHING and every place in the world. I LOVE to travel.
Upon my return I'd probably do some soul searching and decide what kind of small business I'd like to open. I need something to keep me busy when I'm not traveling or in my NYC apartment or beach house on the west coast of Florida!

What about you Darla? And what's the story with the car? Did I miss your answer somewhere else?

Heidi

I did post this elsewhere, but the smart car?  I test drove one in May and got on the 22 month wait list for a new one.

I would hire Gordon Ramsay to cook for me.  And I'd hire David Cook to sing for me.  Wait!  I'm getting a bit confused.  Crossing my top 5 celebrity list with jackpot list.

I would be rather selfish.  And ridiculous!  I'd definitely be generous.  But only to those who I think are worthy.  Boy, I'm quite the snot today.

The one "for sure" is a new house out of the city.   On a lake so I can buy a boat.  And I promise to treat all my friends here on a caribbean cruise.  I PROMISE!  :)

I have given this alot of thought!! Actually my DH and I have talked alot about it and the very first thing we would do is get all the kids and grandkids together and go on an extended family vacation. Then we would pay off all of their mortgages and if they don't have a house we would by them one. Then we would give back to all of our family and friends that have been there for us all thru the years and make their lives comfortable and worry free!
We would put back some for each grandkids college fund.
Also we would buy a lake home and have a place that the family can come for visits.
We would travel to Europe and to Africa.
We would invest in the local schooling system. I would start with donating to the local school system for their sports and band programs and activites. Of course this would anomously.
I would get plastic surgery and some for sure do something about these girls!! ;-)
I would quit working for a while and travel wit hmy DH and family then maybe open up my own little shop somehwere...maybe a dance studio.....(I better take some lessons)
Can ya tell, I am bored at work today?

Practical?  I'd pay off all my family's debts - including my brother and 2 of Rich's siblings (the other 2 do NOT deserve anyone's charity...)  I'd give Bailey the Cruiser (no new vehicles for a new driver!) replace our vehicles, and find some land near where we are for a new house.  A LOG house!  And of course, college would be paid in full when the time comes.

Selfish?  Replace my wedding rings with a similar but HEFTIER set!  (I already lost the original diamond years ago, so the sentiment isn't quite where it would have been with the original stone).  Buy a few horsies for me & Bailey, and hire someone to teach me how to take really good care of them!  (Jodi?  You up for that???)  Have a pool and a lil' lazy river built on our new land!  Plastics to unload all the excess skin I'm sporting these days, and of COURSE a new wardrobe!!!

Generous?  Give a big chunk o' change to our church to help retire the debt.  Also, there was a steeple on it many years ago that blew off in a tornado, Rich always thought it would be cool to get that replaced.  And to my mom's church, 'cuz they've always been really, REALLY good to my folks.  And I'd try to provide things that my friends really need.

I'd also want to travel a lot - cruises, Alaska, Australia, Africa, Europe (I've always wanted to see castles!) - but mostly sunny destinations!  Of course, I'd have to hire a hypnotist to get Rich on a plane to join me on these adventures!

After paying off all my debt, I would definitely quit working and do something charitable.  I've had this dream since I was about 13 years old that I would open up a self running homeless shelter.  Very similar to that of MaryJo Copeland, but everyone who lived in the shelter would have to contribute something to the betterment of the whole place, whether it would be cooking, cleaning, sewing - whatever.  People that wanted to live there would have to prove that they had something to offer and were willing to pull their own weight to make the home successful.  This would then allow them to turn their current skills into something that they could use to get a job and get themselves back on their feet to get a job and eventually their own home.

If that didn't work out, then I would make sure that I put in plenty of time where there were lots of babies.

Another thing I would do is open up a place where small dog owners could pay a small fee to bring their dogs there to get exercise in the winter.  Of course this comes out of my worry that I won't have any place to bring Alfie this winter and how much it will crush his little heart to be couped up in the house for 6 months.

It's always fun to dream of what "COULD" happen.  If only...  Which reminds me of this old story...

A man pleads with God every week to win the lottery and every week goes by and the man doesn't win. So one day the man asked God, "God, Why can't I win the lottery?" and God replied, "My son, you have to buy a ticket in order to win!"

God helps those who help themselves!  Have you bought your ticket yet?

Like many- pay off debt ( house, credit cards etc. )

Then my dream is to either own a resort in a warm sunny location or a campground/ christmas tree place ( lol I know two extremes but I love both )

My kids and parents would most definitely get some as would my church.

Darla....fun question.....

I would pay off my childrens mortgages and buy them a new vechicles.
I would pay for my grandchildrens college and buy them new cars.
I would buy myself a new car.
I would go to Maui for at least a month with all my children and grandchildren.
I would help the church in a big way.
Plastic surgery would be a must!!

Most of all, above and beyond anything elsem, I would take Nic where ever he needs to go to get the Cancer removed from his body!!
