Training paused...Dr's orders
Well, as some of you know I was hobbling last night as I managed to hurt my left ankle/foot during my run on Tuesday night. When I came home I had a sharp pain, that wasn't too bad and was only there when I walked or stood on it for a long time, just below my ankle along the outside top of my foot. I thought it would go away, but it just kept getting worse so yesterday I called the clinic and the earliest they could get me in was this afternoon. Well due to all of the storms this afternoon the clinic had a power outage so they called me to see if I sould reschedule or go to urgent Care. I asked to talk to the PA I was suppossed to see and she gladly talked to me. We went over symptoms onset, intensity, etc and she diagnosed it as an overuse injury in the tendons that connect my foot and ankle. I am to stay off it and keep it elevated as much as possible, ice it 3 times a day and no walking/running until at least Monday. If it isn't better at that point she wants me to come in even if I have to tell them to work me in and then she will take a look at and decide what we should do, but she seemed pretty confident that by Monday I should be able to start back on my running (although I will have to start slow so as not to reinjure it). I am doing pilates and upper body strength training in the meantime and hope that this does not keep my from my goal of running the whole 5K in under 30 minutes on race day. So, any healing prayers would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to hear of your injury! Here is a prayer that it heals quick and doesn't hinder your race!
