unusual surgery
Hi this is Julie Linngren again. This time I am wriiting on a more personal note. Today I just got home from the hospital from having surgery to remove the stainless steel ring that Dr. Buchwald puts in when he does his RNY in case of a bowel obstruction. Only in my case that darn ring had floated out of place and had begun to break into pieces. Also the old part of my stomach that was left after my pouch was made had somehow curled up under my ribcage on my leftside. So as you can imagine i was in a lot of pain. He said that for both of theses things to happen is rare. For them to happen together is almost unheard of. I am at home and resting comfortably now. I go back for my checkup on July23rd.

Hi Julie, glad to hear you are home & resting comfortably - that will be important to your healing!
At the June support group, Dr. Buchwald did discuss the ring he used and stated he no longer does that. It was a great concept, though! He just found he was taking them out more often than not, so why put them in. Makes sense.
Best wishes to you & continued health and healing are wished for you.
All I can say is WOW!! And that I am glad you are alright and on the mend!
