Something to think about

You are right! I find that unless they are going through what I'm dealing with they really don't understand. At first some of my friend were supportive on they don't say anything I think it is because they are jealous and that they thought I would fail. They can get over themselves.

There's a lot to what you say about society not accepting fat people.  We all know that, and I don't think there's going to be any huge change there.   But for our "friends" to turn on us? (which THANKFULLY I haven't had to deal with at this point)  Well, like I tell Bailey when her teenage girlfriends go a little psycho-b*tch on her, "With friends like that, who needs enemies?"  It's so true...   I think that as formerly fat people, we have one thing going for us - we know what real, true friends are.  They are those who accepted us fat, and who are HAPPY for us for having shed the weight!  It's called "unconditional love".  People who get all wierd on us for having lost the weight?  Well, you can't help but question how good of a friend they were in the first place.   In a way, I feel sorry for people like that, who have never dealt with that kind of discrimination.  They haven't had to do the soul-searching we have.  God forbid something should ever happen to their figures or their faces, and the "friends" they thought they had suddenly reject them for being different.   Okay, I'm getting WAYYY too deep for a Friday - LOVE YOU MICHELLE!  You are WORTHY of GOOD friends!  My hope for you is that you find a way to put those nay-sayers in their places.
