OT scamming

Hey guys  i had to share this..........  there is a group of people going from town to town selling a bunch of different magazines.  The girl that came here said she lived down the street gave me a sap story on how her dad was at war blah blah blah and STUPID me felt sorry for her and bought 2 different magazines.  My hubby was looking her company up on the net and it is a scam....  I wrote out 2 checks and now she has my drivers license # and crap.  I was so fricken mad I went looking for her but of course she is no where to be found.  She is fricken lucky let me tell ya.  That is one thing you  DO NOT LIE TO ME  I am still so pissed.  I went to the police station they took the receipt that I had and were gonna check into it.  they said They had to register with the city so i hope they did.   PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT DO WHAT I DID.  I feel so stupid right now how could I have done that.  I wish I could find her and kick her right in the cooter maybe i would feel better.   I hope the police find them it is a group of people...........  Now I need to wait until the bank opens up to cancel my checks........ Hey Marsha is happens to the best of us. I know that I would have probably would have bought the magazines and not even bother to check if the company is legit. Get those check cancelled! UGH frustrating I know. Always trying to be a good person and then crap like this happens.  Hope you have a better day!

Marsha~I am sorry to  hear that this has happened, I agree to go door to door lieing and scamming is so wrong and in this day of identity theft I worry for you.  Something else you may want to do since she now has all of your account information and DL# is to contact the Credit Bureaus (all 3 of them) and put up a fraud alert so that within the next 6 months if there are any credit apps using your name/info they will contact you to verify that it was you and if not they will immediately decline them.  Also you may want to seriously consider closing your checking account and opening a new one since your check will have the account # and routing # on the bottom and they can use that info to buy things online and over the phone.  Again I am sorry that this happened to you, hopefully you can head them off before they get a chance to do any damage.  Love & Hugs! I had some "college kids" come to my door about 2 years ago selling magazines and come to think of it, I never got the magazines.  Don't remember the name of the company though. What was it so we can be on the lookout. M.

I can't remeber the police have all that at the station when i get it back i will let you know.

Thanks for the info.     I can't imagine being that kind of a person to be ABLE to go through with that.  :O(          I mean the scammers.........so sad to be them.   Hopefully this young gal will get caught now and learn a lesson or two so she gets on the right track to do good in life.    I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Marsha don't beat yourself up about this. This is a constant thing that is growing day by day. You are not the only one that has to deal with this. Chalk this up to another lesson learned. Take care Richard
