So, who has been scoped?
My surgeons office is suspecting an ulcer....Yippie, he has instructed me to call my Dr. up here, (I really don't want to drive to La Crosse) and tell him that it has been suggested that I have a scope odne....
I've never had this done.... what is it like? is it an in and out thing and back to work? or would I have to lose time from work?
Any imput would be great.

Which one you getting.....down the throat or up the butt? lol. My friend had it up the butt...LOL...sorry... and it wasn't pleasant for him.
My daughter has had a couple of these and as long as they numb your throat enough, you shouldn't have any problems. Others' experiences are like the surgery -- everybody is different. One persons bad experience won't necessarily be yours. And I think sometimes worrying about it makes the experience worse because you are anticipating problems. Lots of people have had HORRIBLE root canals, and mine (after being on antibiotics before the actual procedure) were no different than filling a numbed tooth -- a breeze.
Relax and just realize you can do it.
AH HA! I was right! :) Anyways, can't they just treat you for an ulcer, with Prilosec and carafate and see if you're feeling better and then scope you if you're not?
I had a scope and I think they gave me extra good drugs because I had no problems and have no memory of it!
Please spay and neuter your pets!

I had one done and it was a breeze!!
I don't remember a thing after they sprayed my throat. That makes it numb. They had me well enough sedated that I didn't notice or feel a thing.
Ask for a little something to relax you...let them know you don't want to remember it.
Good luck....hope the results are good!!

I had a stricture and had to have an endoscopy - they will numb your throat and give you medication so that you will be relaxed and won't remember much later - I had to have someone come with me as they would not let me drive myself afterwards. I would try to schedule for later in the day, that way you wouldn't miss too much work - especially because of the medication.
Had two, don't remember a thing. If it is a scheduled procedure like yours will be, it is usually done with a medication called Versed. I LOVE Versed. You will probably not remember it, but you will need to have someone there to drive you home. It is outpatient, so once you are alert enough to leave, you are out of there. You may be tired, and they make you promise not to make any big decisions or sign any important papers for 24 hours due to the fact you may not remember lol. So, my guess would be it might be wise to take the rest of the day off. See if you can schedule it for the afternoon, then go home and relax the rest of the day.
