Am I eating too little?

I found out I get in about 560 calories a day....ergh... I think maybe I'm shortchanging myself.

I get 87 grams of protein though, so that's good!!

I recently started tracking on the Daily Plate.... so that's how I found out.

Thoughts? Thanks!

With RNY I tracked protein first and the caloric intake wasn't used in the losing phase.  In my maintenance phase, I track protein first, fat second, and then calories.  But calories is still not the first thing I'm suppose to look at.  As long as I get in my protein and stay between 30-40 grams of fat a day, I'm good to go.   Lapband eating is different so you may have to use that board for your answer on that one.  I believe since RNYers have the malabsorption thing, eating and tracking are different.

Elena - I am RNY too so not much help.  I can say, though, that I eat about that many calories in a day.  Good job on getting in your protein.  I only get in about 30g because I can't do protein supplements or shakes or anything.  Even today when I refused to eat anything that didn't have some protein I ate about 320 cal and 29g protein (usually my calories are higher, but I wasn't hungry at dinner).  Anyway, keep following your surgery center's plan and everything will be well.

I go in for my 3rd fill on  Thursday so I'll talk to them. Thanks for reminding me... I need to make a list of things to talk to her about.

Elana,
That's way too low for lap band and not the point at all. You should have at least 1000-1200 calories a day - unless your program is way different that Unity's. Different docs do have different views on this, but I never ate less than 1000 calories and have lost just fine. The point of the band is to eat in a healthy way that you can live with for the rest of your life. You need to maintain your health along with losing the weight. I'd be curious to hear what they say when you ask at your fill.

Hey Jean, I understand that's not the point...but I am just simply not hungry. I think it's just a phase that will pass, but I just don't feel hunger. But I have upped it to about 800 so I should be good. Thanks!
