Insurance approval

Hello, I have BC/BS of Minnesota, I was wondering if anyone has them and if so, if there was a time frame you had to wait before getting approved for the Lap Band? Kristy

Hi! Well, I'm not getting the lap band but I know that BCBS MN is pretty good with approvals as long as you meet all the requirements as stated on their medical policy. I did all the stuff required by PN and by BCBS and was approved for RNY in a day! The whole process takes about 6-7 months after your first appointment, since BCBS requires 6 months of nutrition appointments. Good luck :)

I go next week to see the nutritionist & my surgeon again as well as get my MMPI II results back. He told me at my last appointment that after this one in July they would be sending everything in to my insurance company. I have been seeing the nutritionist he recommended for about 3 months; however I have seen another one a few times since February. I have done everything else; hopefully I get an approval quickly as I am so eager for my "new life" to begin. When did you have your surgery?

I havent had my surgery yet, I go in next week :) Good luck on your journey and pretty soon Ill have some room next to me for ya on the losers bench!
