OT - Hazel

Okay, so most of you that are familiar with me know I LOVE LOVE LOVE our poochie, Hazel.  She is my unconditional sunshine when the rest of the world has me in a mood... So we're going on a week long vacation to the Dells in a couple of weeks - and my youngest neice has planned to stay with her while we were gone.  She just graduated from high school, and is a very nice, responsible girl.  This has been our plan since Easter - she has a couple of big doggies at home, so knows how to handle 'em!

I've been trying to connect with her to confirm, to get her a key and info on Hazel's routine.  Yesterday, she FINALLY got back to me.  She "really can't see it working out well" for her.    FINE.  JUST  $(@%*#&)!'N  FINE.  for over 3 months, she's been "looking forward to it!"  Sad thing is, I can't say I'm entirely surprised.  I contacted my 20 year old nephew, but he'll be gone for most of that week as well.  My mom?  Hazel would KILL her.  Neighbor kids?  Not terribly reliable, overly snoopy. I'm looking into a few pet sitting services, such as Happy Days Doggie Camp in Rockford, but MAMA MIA - $32.95/day!!!  That = $230.65 for the week!  Yikes... Anyone here have experience with pet sitters?  Feedback?  Recommendations?  HELP!!!!

Darla, When are you leaving again? Maybe I could check in on her? Or maybe she could come here to my house? I have two dogs...... Otherwise I go through TKO in clearwater. Kelly

I used a pet service once...I'll try to find the name of it... Otherwise... I don't know how many times you need someone to stop by, but I will do it.  Let me know. Doggies are my one true love. Especially wrestling with them.

Darla - Where are you staying in the Dells? At a hotel that takes dogs or camping? There is a wonderful doggy daycare, reasonably priced, in the Dells that my sister used when we all went camping in the Dells.  Her dog needed a sitter because if you left her in the camper alone for the day she would cry like she was being murdered!  Anyway, if bringing dear Hazel with you is an option, try www.pamperedpets.net Good luck and have fun in the Dells!

Yes. Pampered Pets is 2 miles north of the "downtown" dells area. My sisters dog, Daisy was very happy there and it didn't cost an arm and I leg either, which is nice considering where you are! lol

Wow...  I'm really caught off guard with offers here!  I was hoping for a lead to a reputable pet sitting service, and get a number of direct offers?   This place, and you people, never cease to amaze me. I'm corresponding with one sweet, crazy person who already asked to take her for us, we'll see how that pans out.    If it doesn't, I'd really prefer to either have someone move in to our house for the week, or take her to theirs - 'cuz she'd need to be out more than once or twice a day. (...sitting here, flabbergasted, shaking my head in shock...)

Oh sweetie - I'd LOVE to take her.  What week is it?  I'm already dogsitting (in Victoria) from July 19th to August 2nd - so if it's anything other than those two weeks I will definitely help out.  Let me know!
