question puffy foot and calf
Hi Deb, I had extremely swollen feet/ankles/calves three weeks ago. Felt really strange, so got into see a doctor, (knew I had heart attack symptoms) but my vitals were good, BP good, EKG also good. Was given a year prescription for Lasix (diuretic) which made me lose about three gallons urination in 24 hours. Incidentaly, my computer crashed for three days, so once it was working again, I've been sitting at the desk, and my feet/ankles/calves are more swollen than before--I know what you mean about 'elephant feet'. Yikes, I've no idea why only one side affects you, though I'd suggest drinking lots of water, and elevating both feet above your heart to reduce the swelling. Move around and call your doctor if still swollen tomorrow. Since being diagnosed with MS seven years ago, I do not take my health for granted, and call to the nurse line aat my GP's clinic. Best wishes to you and please keep us up on how things go. From one Big Foot to another......hugs, Patti

I took Lynn's advice and she picked me up and we went to the emergency room and they did an ultra sound and blood work to rule out the possibility of blood clots. I happy to say everything was normal and I am just retaining fluids, so I have a prescription for hydochlorothiazide. This might be some of the reason I have been losing weight recently. We will see.
