OT...online dating.. has anyone known of a long distance one working?

I have met a wonerful man on my online dating sight. He is sweet, sincere, polite and very respectful.... Never had a man talk to me quite like he does. He is wonderful.

Here's the glitch............he's in california......he has called me, I have called him, chatted many, many times online.

He is talking of coming to Minnesota to meet me... don't know what to think of that......can it work? am I crazy to even think about it!!!! Help... give me some advice.

Yep, he looks like a keeper, but the most important thing is how does he treat you and how you feel around him.  I am not sure about the whole long distance thing I have never tried it.  Sorry I don't have any advise on what to do!  I hope that whatever you choose to do makes you happy! Since I haven't been around him....yet....all I can go by is how he talks to me, and how that makes me feel.

He is very respectful and sweet...never had any man talk to me the way he does. He makes me feel special...

We talked for a while late last night online....when we talked of him coming to Minnesota to meet me, he made it clear it is because he wants to get to know ME. Sex was not part of the agenda....HE WANTS TO COME EVENTUALLY JUST TO GET TO KNOW ME....I am am am speachless....never had a man want to go to such lengths ... just to get to know me......I am in awwww.

Just my two cents...  I've been in a long distance relationship with a guy from Alabama for the last 4 years now, on and off with the same guy for 8. While there has been a lot of tension and drama, I think it's been really great for us. You can't just rely on spending your time sitting on a couch and watching movies together, you really have to make an effort to interact with one another, and I feel like I know the person I'm dating a whole lot better than a lot of people that have been in similar length face-to-face relationships.  If you do decide to meet him, just make sure to be SAFE - meet in public, make sure your friends/family/someone you trust knows whats going on and is able to get to you in case of trouble, I'm sure you know the drill. :) (Oh, and as far as "working" - we're planning on getting married once we're in the same state, lol. I graduate from college in December so we're planning on someone moving depending on my job situation in the new year)

Thank you for replying.... First congradulations on your upcoming graduation. I went to college for the first time at 38, got my associates in 3 years while working full time....and still graduated with honors. Education definately empowers us.

Second: Thank you for your imput....and I believe you are right about knowing someone on here sometimes better then in face to face. On here it is hard to rush things. And the interaction this way forces you to communicate, and take it slow.... as the physical part don't get involved because of the distance. We both know the other is stubborn. Very stubborn....but at the same time we respect that as we are both in business.
If you do not mind me asking...how many times have you actually been with the gentleman from alabama?(what is is about oh girls and men from bama? LOL) Was the first meeting a little awkward?
