Happy Monday and a Holiday weekend Comming!!
Happy Monday everyone!
Well I had a busy week last week and a little setback. I started out the week going to the Jack Johnson Concert on Sunday and while walking from the parking lot proceeded to sprain my ankle It didn't stop me from seeing the concert which was amazing seeing 25,000 people singing along with him. It reminded me of the old days seeing concerts at the Met! Anyone remember the Metropolitian Stadium?? I pushed myself back to my workouts faster than I should but what can I say I'm nuts!! Thursday night was a concert at the cabooze and seeing a great young artist Kenny Wayne Shepard. Amamzing Guitar player! Then on to the Pantages Theater on Saturday and seeing one of my old time favorite artists John Hiatt! If you ever get a chance to see an event there do so it is an amazing place.Could I have done this or had the energy 4 and a half years ago?? Never Could I have fit in the seats at the Pantages Not a chance. Would I have had the guts to go by myself because I wanted to see these artists because music is my passion NEVER! Thats what makes this surgery so great it gives us the confidence to live our lives, to do the things that make us happy and not second guess our comfort level! I just looked at the pictures from the Lucy and Randell Meet and great. You all look so amazing and I can just see all the joy and happiness on your faces. I'll admit that sometimes its hard to fight the fight but seeing things like those pictures and going to participate in things I love like seeing live music makes me keep it going. There I still days were I want to get up forget about the world and just eat a donut and wa**** down with a diet Pepsi but what good will that do. Being farther out it doesn't get easier but having these wonderful experiences that I would have not done if I weighed 375lbs and being self conscious does and knowing that it makes it all worth it! Hope everyone will have a safe and fun holiday weekend.
Take care

GOOD FOR YOU, Jim! I LOVE live music - and yes, I remember the Met VERY WELL! I saw a LOT of shows there - pre Xcel, pre Target Center... Chicago? Huey Lewis? Neil Diamond? Little River Band and Pablo Cruise? Kenny Rogers & Dotty West? REO? John Denver? I'm probably forgetting more than I'm listing. I get a little melancholy, missing the old Met Center, and the Stadium too - every time I step on Home Plate and see that stadium seat on the wall at MOA... Ever tailgate at a Kicks game? DANG!
YAY YOU for taking in those shows, doing things you wouldn't have before. It helps SO VERY MUCH to hear stuff like this from people who are further out - that the battle never ends, but the appreciation for where you are now vs. where you came from doesn't either!!
HAPPY 4th!!!
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Darla Thanks so much for your kind words! The funny thing is we were at the same concerts. Like Pablo Cruise and Little river band and I remember the Eagles and Doobie Bros Great memories. I also did tailgating at the kicks games and also I remember waiting for the Gates to open at the old Civic Center and being able to drink beer while waiting for the gates to open Aww the good old days! Have a great 4th

What about Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show!!! The last concert I ALMOST went to was Cinderella. A friend of mine had an in and got me front row seats to Cinderella for me and my two girls, then ages 8 and 6. I was sooooo excited. A musical with front row seats -- a fairy tale. How wonderful. So we headed over to the Met with our short sets on and our little white keds. I should have known something was screwed up when they were searching cars when you entered the parking lot. Hmmmm I thought. As we parked and started walking toward the stadium, I noticed a lot of leather, steel spikes and black hair sticking straight up in the air. Lots of body piercings too. My oldest said "mom, why are there loony toons here". Then KQ was blasting the latest song by the heavy metal band Cinderella while the Met announcement said "resale of tickets is prohibited, no refunds".
Well, I marched into the ticket office with my front row seats fully expecting them to say no to a refund but when I said "Look at us......Cinderella, wicked stepmother, little girls", I got a full refund.
Last met concert......we still chuckle about that one......,
XXOO
Barb, LOL! Being a child of the 80s I automatically though Cinderella the band. I was starting to wonder why you would take two kids under 10 and then it hit me that you were thinking Cinderella (Disney). Hee Hee. Some of those looney toons were probably wondering what you were doing there! Glad to hear that you got a refund.
