I'm not perfect but I am going to die trying!!!
Hey guys!! Thanks so much for all the great wishes!! I've been truckin' around the 4th floor all day and my RN suggested that I go to the lounge which has... dundunDUNN... INTERNET ACCESS!!! Woohooo!
In an hour they have orders to call Dr. G, where they are pretty sure I'll get discharged, which is great. The surgery went perfectly, completely textbook, no complications - gallbladder looks perfect as well. I woke up around 12:15pm yesterday and got up to my room sometime around 1 or 1:30. I asked to go for a walk then but they were busy and I didn't get up til 4:30, which I was *thrilled* about because my back was so sore!! I was having some trouble with getting really warm & nauseated after walking but it's worn off, and I have been up walking probably 7-8 times today. I asked for my catheter out last night and have had no "going" troubles, no gas issues yet, and am keeping up on my 1 oz. of boost and 4 oz. of water per hour. The first boost was a little rough, because I had my lortab at the same time and was hurtin a little bit, but that has also improved. I've mostly been achy rather than having any real pain. I had some bleeding from my incisions (OH! I forgot the best part!! I got down to 361.5 for surgery so they got to do it lap!!) when I first started moving up I'm pretty good now - occasionally twist wrong and hurt a little.
Honestly, I feel great. My nurses were shocked yesterday when I said I wanted to get up and walk right away, I'm moving around easily by myself, have had great spirits through the enitre thing. My nurses keep chuckling at me, because they say I'm one of the very few patients who has gone the way that Dr. Glass says we should progress. I hear he read the nurses part of the riot act last night for not having me up when I wanted to and such, but they've all been great. One of my nurses today is 2 yrs post op, which is really cool! Everyone keeps telling me how good I'm doing and how well I am going to do with the surgery because of my great beginning with it! I used maybe 1/4 of the medicine in my PCA before they took it off this morning and I'm so ready to get home!
Anyway, thanks a ton for all your warm wishes, and thanks to the other Amber for checking on me!! My mom told me once I was conscious that you called, and it took me a minute to figure it out, but I really appreciate it! :)
Let the games begin! :)
