OT..online dating

Okay have any of you after weight loss surgrey, and a significant weight loss tried online dating? or know of someone who has? Did they have any success? How do they react to the weight loss, and ummm extra skin?

Any input would be great and appreciated.

Diane~I have a profile on a couple of different sites (one pay and one free) but have had no luck so far.  However I am still considered heavy so that may be part of it.  Right now I have my profile out there and am open to dating, but am not avidly seeking a man as I am focusing more on myself.  I do hope you get some answers from those who have found someone after WLS as I would be interested in the response as well.

I have done it not to long ago but am not anymore. I met some nice men and have stayed friends with a couple. I just haven't found the one that I click with yet!! I sure have gotten alot of responses now that I am smaller. When I was heavier they didn't pay much attention. Hugs, connie d

I have a profile on a few sites.  No luck.  I've had several contacts, I've had a few guys that we had a few email exchanges.  I've had a bunch of offers for one night stands, and one guy randomly IM'd me and told me my profile made me look like a nut.  WTF!  I asked what he meant, and he says, "I just call them like I see them."  again, WTF?  then he closed his chat window.  Whatever!  It's probably cause I said on there that I would like to meet a man who would be able to pass a criminal background check, and who has a license and a job.  I have some standards.  Oh yeah, then there's the guy who was fresh out of a relationship, and the day we were supposed to meet he admitted that to me, and then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't meet me with a clear conscience because he's still working on things with the ex.  At least he seemed sincerely apologetic, and didn't string me along too long.  I have tried to initiate contact with several men, but no dice. Anyway, even with all the odd experiences (listed and unlisted) I've had, and though I still haven't met anybody in person, I would say go ahead and give it a shot.  Nothing to lose as long as you are careful and follow the rules of meeting somebody from the internet.  It works for some, and what the hey, it could work for you!  At least we can't be told that we aren't putting ourselves out there and giving it a try.

How 'bout - a man *****spects his mother but is not tied to her apron strings, and who is STRAIGHT? Just thinkin' out loud here...

OH DO I HEAR YOU ON THAT ONE!!!  The relationship that broke up in Feb was like that - His mom kept trying to cut the apron strings and he would sew them back together as fast as he could...it was crazy!!!!! As I said in a different post earlier this week - just want to find a young-ish, tall, straight, SINGLE man to have in my life.... I have to get back to the dating sites that I was on before and get them updated and see what happens!

I swear by eHarmony - I've said it before and will say it again. lol  It is an extremely reputable online dating service, has excellent filtering so you get just the kind of man you are looking for - boiling down to religious preference (or not), smoker/non-smoker, drinker/non-drinker, kids okay/not okay, personality must haves and can not have in a mate....it is very thorough!  Anyway,  I met the most wonderful, sweet, caring, considering, perfect guy on there.  And I know "perfect" is a strong word, but he darn near is.  We have never been in a big argument - we have disagreed, but never said anything to each other in anger that we've regretted.  He is my soulmate! This was before my WLS though...3 years ago in November.  So that part I can't relate too as far as it being after surgery, but I can vouche that online dating can work.  I'm living proof. I had a sagging stomach when we met because of 4 pregnancies so that has not changed since losing weight.  He loved me the way I was and still loves me the way I am.  He just says "VA VA VOOM!" I tried Yahoo personals for a short time.... that was wierd. I had two marriage proposals from two different guys in three days....After I got rid of them ... ((took a while for one))) I ended up chatting with a couple of them.... unfortunately none of them really panned out, or were looking for one thing.

Now I am on a free trial of True.com.... I've had a few hits.... winks, emails, etc. However I have had one in particular that we seemed to hit it off fairly well. We chatted both night before last and last night.... well I am meeting him for coffee after work tonight. Should be interesting.

Wish me luck, I will let you know how it goes.
