On Tuesday I go in for my surgery. I can't believe the day is almost here. I told my husband that we were going to go to a late movie that night because I KNOW I won't be sleeping. You know my biggest fear out of all of this is the IV and the tube. I hate needles and I'm not looking forward to getting that. I also don't like the idea of a tube sticking out of me for a week. But I understand it's for safety. I cannot wait to join the losers bench, I can't wait to have success stories like all of you!!

It's almost here - I'm so excited for you!!!! Best tip given to me about IV's (I am fearful of them too) is to make sure you drink as much water as possible the day before surgery.  They say staying hydrated helps the IV go in easier and I have to say it must be true because it worked for me! (((Hugs and good luck!!!)))) Michelle

Best wishes with your surgery next week.  Sorry to hear that you don't like needles, because you honestly will see a lot of them between the IV and the Lovenox injections that you'll probably have to do.  Just stay calm and drink lots of water (like Michelle said) and you'll get through it OK.  In any case, all of it will be worth being on the LOSER'S BENCH!  WOO HOO!

I won't mind the other shots because I'll be on pain meds :) It's mind over matter. They really don't hurt but it's knowing that it's happening!

Best wishes for an uneventful surgery;  you've got the BEST surgeon ever--I really like Dr Benn's credentials and style.  You'll be in wonderful hands, and it's really amazing how quickly post-surgery you won't even remember the needles, pain, etc.   Looking forward to having you join the losers' bench !  Hugs galore, Patti

YEAH -- what a way to begin summer -- with the new you as a loser !!!  How exciting for you!!!  You'll sleep the night before because you'll probably be tired from running to the bathroom all day for the clean out!!!  I thought that was the worst part -- the IV and tube were nothing compared to the sore heiny!!!  And they numb the area where the IV is going in so you'll be fine.  And the tube/bulb is taped to you and the nurses deal with it.  Once they know there is no leak, it comes out.  And remember, you get drugs to deal with the tube and stuff afterwards -- you won't care what they are doing!!! Enjoy the rest of your week and the beautiful weekend coming up!!!   XXOO

I was really scared about the IV too!!   When ever I have my blood drawn it takes the tech like 4 times and sometimes takes 2 of them to get it done so I was really nervous about the whole IV thing.  But have to say when the IV time came it wasn't bad at all.  They didn't get it the first couple tries but it wasn't painful and I just looked away. I think your body is so full of adrenaline on the surgery day that helped take the focus off worring about the IV.
