OT Thank You To Everyone

Thank you for all your prayers, thoughts and concern.  It has been very hard indeed, I am crying less today.  I kept two of her collars and her two favorite toys.  I donated her food to the Humane Society, and her leftover treats to her three best friends Baker, Boo and Tucker.  I also gave her puppy stairs to Tucker since he is 12 and needs them (his mom couldn't find any to buy).  I put her bed and kennel in the basement around the corner where I can't see them till I decide what to do with it.  Her other stuff I gave to the thrift store.  I have not been talking to anyone for the most part, I just feel like I want to be left alone.  I have been avoiding the house too by staying busy.  Everyone says I'll get another dog, but knowing this is how it ends I say no.  Someone wants me to help her find a dog (she asked me before I had to put Millie down), so they think I will come home with one too.  I don't know about that. The cat slept with me all night she's a smart little thing. Thanks for the beautiful "Rainbow Bridge" poem I'm going to print it off.  Thanks for the website too I will check it out tomorrow.

Hang in there.  Pets can be so amazingly intuitive.  I'm glad that your kitty realized that you needed the cuddles.  You'll get a new dog if and when you're ready to.  Don't let anyone rush you into it.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I thought maybe some fun quotes about dogs would cheer you up during the harder times:

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.  ~Ben Williams

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.  ~Samuel Butler

One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you're feeling blue is that he doesn't try to find out why.  ~Author Unknown

A dog is the only thing on this earth that loves you more than he loves himself.   ~ Josh Billings

"No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin

"Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job." - Franklin P Jones

"If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went."  Will Rogers

"Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless he's owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes." Gene Hill  ~If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them. -Phil Pastoret   ~Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole. -Roger Caras   ~A nation's progress can be judged by how they treat their animals. -Gandhi  ~To err is human, to forgive canine. -Anonymous

That whole dog biscuit thing is so true.  Hubby used to let our dog out every morning on his way to work.  When he let her in she'd run into bed with me and he'd give our her three treats, a Beggin strip, and two milk bones.  Sometimes he'd hide one or two to watch her put her super snooper nose in gear and find them in the blankets, under a pillow, inside a pillow case etc.  A few times he tried shorting her one or two and she would have none of that.  She let him know there was supposed to be more and she knew it!   She also was a great comfort.  There were many times she'd climb in my lap and I'd tell her that her puppy love was the only thing getting her momma through that day.

I know that you know that we are all heartbroken along with you.  The death of a pet is always hard and we have all experienced it.  Take your time to grieve Millie as only those who loved her can.  We are here when you need us. Hugs to you Gwen ~~ from all of us.

Still you have you in my toughts,  I figured you would need some time alone.  Take your time to grieve and only get another dog if and when you are good and ready.  Glad Sassy could give you some comfort.  Take care my dear freind,  I'm here if you need me.

Sassy slept with me all night again last night, she still looks for Millie.  Every time I come in the door she looks at my feet and behind me to see if Millie is there.
