Hey everyone, it's me Tracy - I've gone a bit incognito for personal reasons, but I'm still here.
Anyway, Lori asked that I give you an update on how things are going for her. Thursday, Lori called me to give me some support and I found out that she needed support far more than I did. As you all know, Lori's mom pass away on May 22nd. Lori's family came up from TN on June 1st and they held a service for her mom on the 4th. Some of Lori's family stayed with Lori at her townhome until Monday of last week. Once they left, Lori started having quite a bit of anxiety, she missed 3 days of work and didn't sleep or eat most of the week. By the time I got to her house on Thursday, she was wanting to be admitted to the hospital just to get relief from the effects of the anxiety on her body. She was shaking uncontrollably. We managed to get a hold of a therapist through her work's EAP program who advised Lori that she probably didn't need to go to the hospital, but rather needed to get some overdue sleep and to see her doctor. Around 9:30 Thursday evening she took an Rx sleeping pill and managed to only wake up every hour. She got up the next morning made her doctors appt, contacted her HR dept and then went back to sleep. I picked her up for her doctors appt around 1:15 and her doctor was the VERY *******ori has to pay out of pocket to see him, but I can see why she stays with him. He helped her understand that she hadn't grieved the loss of her mom yet, she just got a new job within the last 6 months, she had gastric bypass surgery and has drastically changed her appearance, she's lonely because her family just left, she wants to move to TN, she's working nights, she's stressed about money and she's working nights. So basically, Lori is OFF THE CHARTS when it comes to going through life's major changes. He prescribed 2 weeks of heavy duty Xanax and upped her depression/anxiety meds and suggested that she get into therapy. He also helped fill out paperwork that would help protect Lori from losing her job because of all these absences. Lori and I both spoke with her boss and her boss is extremely understanding of all this, but has boundaries within which she can work and urged Lori to get help through HR so her job would be protected. Lori spent most of the weekend sleeping, but tried to get out a little at the urging of the EAP therapist. She managed to get herself to the grocery store on Saturday and called me all excited last evening because she was actually cooking for herself - something she hadn't done all week.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as the medications continue to infiltrate her system and help her get better, that she doesn't have any repercutions at work due to this intensely difficult time in her life, pray that when she does get better and can put her house on the market that she finds a buyer right away so she can move to TN and most of all pray that she is able to transfer into a new job on her same floor that isn't working NIGHTS. We both think that her working nights is seriously disrupting the natural rythyms of her body signifcantly contributing to her depression and anxiety.
Sorry this got long - I just really want the best for Lori - any prayers you can say to help her out is much appreciated. AND if you live anywhere near Lori - give her a call and try to get her out of the house back into a normal routine. She hopes to go back to work on Wednesday of this week (because she only gets paid if she actually works) so her schedule will be disrupted a little having to back to nights, but she could really use some friends around her to help her through all of this. Of course, I'm helping out as much as I can, but have a late meeting tonight.
Thanks for taking the time to read this - Lori appreciates it a ton! She said that she won't be on here for a few weeks - but is thinking of everyone!
Hello sweetie....I have been wondering how Lori has been. Darla said at coffee on Saturday that Lori was really struggling. I continue to keep Lori in my thoughts and prayers.
She is such an awesome person I hate that she is having to deal with all of this right now.
As for you my dear....I have been missing you too!! I pray for you everyday. I miss seeing you and hope to again real soon.
Love and hugs......connie d
Lori, keeping you in my prayers. Your whole life has been turned upside-down in a relatively short amount of time. No wonder you are going through all of this. Working nights takes a special breed of person to do for any period of time and then to have everything else on top of it. WOW. Take things day by day, moment by monment if you have to and you are in my prayers. (((HUGS))) to you.
Tracy~Thank you so much for posting this as I have been worried about how she is doing. You are truely a wonderful friend to be with her during a very difficult and scary time. I am glad she was able to stabalize and get a med adjustment without having to go into the hospital (once you're in it's not so easy to get out and can sometimes increase the depression). I will keep her in my prayers for all that you asked in the post and when my schedule slows down maybe I will be able to get down to see her! Thank you again and take care of you as well! Love & Hugs! Nicole
