I'm home!
Hey everyone! I just wanted to check in to let you all know that I'm back from the hospital! The surgery went really well and I've been moving around quite well. My DH and I even walked to the car following discharge (a couple of blocks). The only problem that I'm having is that I think I am dumping right now (not sure since it's never happened before). Around 11:30am I swallowed a whole Percoset (hospital said it wouldn't be a problem). Then around noon I had my chewable vitamin and then around 1pm I ate a Citracal. I've been really, really nauseated since eating the Citracal and I've been trying to sleep it off, but so far no luck. Whatever it is, I hope that it goes away soon. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them - I'm so looking forward to getting back to the quick recovery that I was having.
Glad to hear you are home and that all went well for you in surgery! From reading what you posted I almost wonder if maybe the Percocet didn't get stuck. I was not allowed to take whole pills until 3 months out, but that is through PNC's program. I would also check the label on the Citrical and see how many grams of sugar it has to make sure that, that is not the culprit as well. I do hope that you are feeling better tonight and that you continue along with your smooth and speedy recovery! ~Nicole
Thanks everyone for your input! I took a couple more Percoset last night and feel much better this morning. I've asked several people on my surgical team about taking the pills and they all say that it's OK. Haven't had any other trouble with taking the Percoset so I've pretty much narrowed my icky feelings to the Citracal. I'm not sure if it was the sugar in it (4g) or if it was just too big or if I ate it too fast. In any case, I'm going to switch to a different calcium source for at least another couple of weeks. I didn't realize how *not* hungry I would feel after the surgery and getting in all of this water, the vitamins, the calcium, the pills, AND food is too much to even handle. So, I'm going to rethink some things so that I can minimize the amount of supplementation that I have to do so that I can also have room for the liquid meals. I can't believe that I'm supposed to start on solids next Friday!
