So I had the surgery and you class yesterday in preparation for the surgery on June 24th. I'm SO nervous now. Up to this point I was like let's go! Is second thoughts normal? It's more nerves than second thoughts. I still want to do it but getting freaked out. I've never had surgery before.... I want to join the losers bench

2nd thoughts are very normal. Actually I would probably be more worried if you did not have them. This is a serious surgery that is life changing. Its scary!! I too had never had surgery before this WLS. I was inside a nervous wreck not so much to others I'm the type who always has the brave face on. But, I knew this was the right thing for me to do for myself and my family.  You are using a great clinic and I trust Dr. Benn so much that I know you are in great care.. Keep thinking about the reasons you are doing this and perhaps that will help a little with the doubt you have.  Wishing you all the best on your journey.

Hang in there.  Second thoughts are really normal.  I actually cried a little yesterday before my surgery wondering if this is what I really want to do.  I didn't really believe people who said that you won't miss all of the eating once you are done with surgery.  Trust me, the sound of food, the sight of food, everything about food repulses me right now.  I know that will go away in time and by then I will have worked out a different relationship with food.

I agree... if you didn't have 2nd thoughts I would be worried also... actually I had 2nd, 3rd, and 4th thoughts. I didn't believe it was real all the way up until I was on the table...and even then.....it seemed like a pipe dream!!! I remember waking up in recovery thinking wow...I did it....I don't feel that much different...Oh well.. it was, and I am....so it was real. Stay in touch with some of the good people on these boards, don't worry about those who are overly judgemental, and you will be fine. Remember this journey is the same, but DIFFERENT for all of us... with different results. Doesn't mean any of us do it better then the others, just that some peoples journeys are not as road block ridden. It is a tough process, but well worth the pay offs. Good luck and I will watch your progress!!!!!

I agree with everyone, second thoughts are normal and part of the process. I also know for me I have not looked back once since having the surgery!! Hang in there!

I never had surgery before either.... no broken bones... nothing. And I went in acting as happy as I could, and I came out...as happy as a clam! Follow suit! hehe. You'll do great!!
