Getting better.i think
Hi everyone...I posted a while ago stating that I am having troubles with my surgery and depression. I have lost 80lbs since 2 weeks before my surgery which was on Feb 11/08. I feel like my pouch is not working properly and my mind is definitely messed up. I was vomitting up to 10 times per day and I am happy to report that has slowed down and even stopped on some days.
I just wanted to post a Thank you to all of you and your responses to me.
I am still not losing weight - been on a plateau for 4 weeks now and it is affecting my depression terribly. I went to my counsellor and got some helped but I am walking a tightrope right now. Some days are good but most are bad. This feels like a victim speech, but I am struggling with being honest with myself about what is going on.
My question right now is should I go back to just liquids, or just protein shakes? I need to see some weight loss because unfortunately to be perfectly honest, it is affecting my ability to cope with everything around me... my only salvation are my two wonderful teenage boys who are keeping me here on earth.. thank goodness they do not see the true me and how I am feeling...
thanks again to each of you who shared with me and motivated me through these tough times.. I will be responding to each of your supportive emails as soon as I can...

I'm not perfect but I am going to die trying!!!
Lori...I am sorry to hear that you are struggling so right now. You have really done a great job so far. 80 pounds is great. Your body is just adjusting and you are probably still losing inches if not pounds. Hang in there. You will start losing again. Sometimes people just plateau but then all of a sudden the weight starts dropping again.
Why were you vomiting...were you having problems with food or what??? That is alot of times in one day to throw up.
Glad to hear you are seeing a counselor. That is a step in the right direction. I can't imagine not having mine. I only see him every eight weeks but when I do I feel so much better.
We are always here for you. Through the good times and bad.
Hugs and prayers are on the way.

Sandie is right. You're body is going thru some drastic changes! Every now and then your body just says, whoa! Let me catch my breath. I am almost 7 months out, I've hit several plateaus/stalls along the way and the weight is dropping off so slowly now. It's discouraging, but it happens to ALL of us. This is a normal and natural biological response to an unnatural biological event.
Try to hang in there. Only weigh once per week. Measure yourself. When you aren't losing weight, but are following the plan, you will see inches dropping off. Honestly, wouldn't you rather see baggy clothes than a number 5lbs less?
Take care and come out here for support any time!
